GW2 is turing out to be way more expensive then GW1[edit]
- → moved from Talk:Halloween_2012
I am disappointed and frustrated to see that GW2 is significantly more expensive then GW1. I refuse to pay the amount of money that they are charging for the costumes and there is no discount on sets like they had in GW1. I believe there is also no costume NPC like in GW1 which comes across badly to me. This along with all the other things I can't stand like way point fees, 15% fees on auction house and currency exchange, lack of benefit in the mystic forge with items sinks, too many account bound items and the wrong types at that, and manipulation of the market to the disadvantage of the majority makes me wonder why I bother to play the game. I want to like it and I enjoyed GW1 but I constantly feel I am being punished in GW2. I am getting the feeling that Arenanet has turned greedy like most other gaming companies and this really bothers me because that was one of the reasons that I praised them. - So you mean you can only like this game if you are wandering around in your mad king's costume with a chainsaw sword? I look at this event in a total other way, I think it is great that they have such an extensive halloween event, when it is only two months ago that this game was released. They could have added only the quest line, or parts of the mad king's realm and dave the other ideas for the coming years, but instead they have put a lot of work in this Holiday Event.--Shol 04:31, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
- This isn't really the place for complaints, please go over to the official forums. Thanks! - Endeavor 05:39, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
- The costumes are Account Bound, and thus can be used across all characters. That doesn't perfectly replace the costume NPC, but it's a nice start and certainly better than nothing. Furthermore, the key difference between GW1 and GW2 in regard to holidays is that you can spend money earned in-game to purchase any item on the gem store. If you see that game as something you must do everything in, including gathering holiday skins, you're free to use gold instead of dollars. -- MS 06:47, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
- Actually, this is much better than in GW1. In GW1 there are tons of costumes you can ONLY get with real cash. In GW2, on the other hand, you can pay ingame gold for these items. Honestly 7 gold for a costume is pretty reasonable.BlueCheez
It is frustrating when people just respond on emotion unconstructively and ignore the efforts I put into trying to be accurate. Games are supposed to be fun! Games are an escape from our crappy lives. They are an attempt to find happiness and entertainment. When a game employs the same screwed up financial realities and endless grinding to the seemingly unattainable that I suffer with in real life the game becomes significantly less fun. In my experience most people play games not just for accomplishments but also to collect everything and become GOD-like. This game doesn't offer the ability to collect everything..there isn't enough inventory space. This game also weakens all overpowered skills instead of strengthening the others..which would be way funner. Of course there are lots of things that I don't NEED to do in this game but why shouldn't I WANT to do them,,and why wouldn't Arenanet WANT me to do them? And you are right this is just a game..which means they can easily change anything anytime they want. So if people like myself don't offer their opinions then they might not know some changes need to happen. The costumes cost twice as much as in GW1.. I am not happy with that. In my opinion and everyone I play withs opinion they agree also. Tera screwed itself by being greedy and wanting $25.00 for a re-skinned horse. Now they have consolidated all their servers down to a couple and fired a bunch of staff. If they don't go free to play the game may die. I don't want to see the same happen to GW2. As far as in-game money goes; because the game is so new I never have any money because I am buying all the things I need to progress in it. Money is also very hard to make in this game and no matter how reasonable you think 7 gold is there is no way I know how to make 14+ gold for both costumes and all the other things for sale in the short amount of time that the event goes for. The player based gold/gem market is also a tremendous disappointment because if I want something then so do many others and the price quickly becomes unreasonable. So instead it just irritates me that they, like real life, are price just beyond my ability to have them. Based on how many Gems they want for the items in their shop and how much it costs in real money to buy this also prevents me from taking that route. I can't afford to blow that much money on a game I have already spent $250+ on in the short time it has been out!Cinnamongod 16:26, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
