Naming format[edit]

Render or concept art

Renders, for the sake of the wiki, refer to the 3d model. They may or may not have a texture applied. If the image is of the 3d model, then it will be a render. If the image is of 2d art, then it is concept art

What's the source?

There are three possible sources for concept art images: 1) Websites where the artist uploaded the image (ideal); 2) in-game artistic cinematics; 3) official videos such as GuildChat

  1. If the source is from a website, just carry on to the next section.
  2. If it's from in-game, for intention of the wiki, it's a screenshot and thus not concept art. It should follow standard screenshot categorization and naming.
  3. If the source is from a video or the like, such as a Guild Chat, trailer, or GDC montage video, then the naming will follow this format:

If the subject matter is unclear:
File:[source origin] concept art [##].jpg
For example: File:Gamescom trailer 2009 concept art 01.jpg

If the subject matter is clear:
File:[source origin] [description] concept art [##].jpg
Example: File:GDC 2010 Eye of Zhaitan concept art.jpg

Furthermore, the categorization should be

Official name or not

Usually, the artist provides an official name in some form. This will often be in the file name when saved, or the page its shown on. ArtStation, which has a lot of Anet artists uploading things onto, will often have both. The images tend to have spaces removed in the file names, or replaced with dashes; they need not be kept that way.

  • If the file name is something like marcus-jackson-avatarofmordremoth-01.jpg then rename to: "Avatar of Mordremoth" concept art.jpg
  • If the file name is something like dsui832ISD.jpg then check if there are words on the file name. Some, such as File:"The Exalted - rough pass" concept art.jpg has a name placed on the image. If that image hadn't had a name provided (in this case The Exalted - rough sketches 1), it should be uploaded to File:"The Exalted - rough sketches" concept art.jpg.
    • NOTE: If it has a name provided and there's one on the image, it doesn't matter which you go with.
    • If there are no such names provided on the image, then go with a best description.

Be sure to remove a number at the end, be sure to remove it, as that is often because the artist has multiple files of the same name that we do not have. Should we do get multiples, follow the next section.

Multiples of one name

If there's another image of the same name, move the older image to include 01 at the end of the name, and add 02 at the end of the new image (continue ascending numerals as new images are uploaded).

If the name is official: File:"[image name]" concept art [##].jpg
Example: File:"Icebrood" concept art 01.jpg

If the name is unofficial:
File:[image description] concept art [##].jpg
Example: File:Icebrood concept art 01.jpg
