User:Euste Ylhes/Understanding Tyria Leveling Guide/Metrica Province
Introduction[edit]
Metrica Province is one of the starters maps. It is a map on which there are a profusion of events and one of the starter maps that have the more involved mechanics in my opinion (think about the jumping puzzle, how to access certain areas of the map or the [in Thaumanova Reactor]). On this map you will learn about one major threat to the Asuras... Themselves. Of course you will also be introduced to the Skritts, the Hyleks and the Kraits.
Although you will not need to focus on completing hearts as events will usually make you complete them without you noticing, I advise keeping an eye out for them as they are a good source of experience. Heart completion is also a good way to kill time while waiting for an event to be active. Also do not forget to speak with the NPCs on your journey to get the full picture of what's happening in the area of the world.
Map[edit]
Roadmap[edit]
- Your adventure on this map starts at the Soren Draa Waypoint. Tou can visit this first area freely, but you want to go south towards the entrance of the Wildffame Cavern as soon as you are ready to start some action.
-
- At the Wildflame Caverns, wait for Chott and help him collecting fire opals in the caverns. Get the vista on your way. When the event finishes, follow Chott to the Battleground Plaza and spectate the duel.
-
- Full of Pride from your recent win, go south to the Incinergen Labs which is precisely Chott's Lab. An event can trigger near there at the Golemagical Institute that will lead you to the area where the first story instance of the Asuras occurs. I do not advise waiting for it as it seems to have a very long cooldown. Enter the Golemagical Institute anyway using the Asura Gate.
-
- Now take a walk towards the Metamystics Lab which you will bypass by South. Then go along the water, and reach a stange brigde made of floating rocks. Cross the water on that bridge and start to loop back by reaching Durotl Grounds, the Hylek Camp.
-
- From the Hylek camp, dive into the lake and reach the Aquannian Research Group point of interest before checking on the Oozes at PR&T Esoterics just north.
-
- Find your way south to the Incomp Optics using the bridge in front of the falls. If you are curious, there is an event that can trigger behind the waterfalls!
-
- Now you want to walk back to the Metamystic Lab. On you way there, several events can trigger! Take some time to visit the Metamystic Lab, go through all the floors, and take a na- good look at the sky with professor Gaz.
-
- Get out of the lap by the north-west door and use the spiraling slope to move to the Hydrone Unit Waypoint.
-
- From the Hydrone Unit, go East, under the arch, and join Senior Researcher Shoon. This heart NPC will tell you if you have to help the salvage specialists in the Lab just east. I advise waiting for the event chain to be active, it occurs very often and is quite fun. While you wait, you might want to get the Old Golem Factory Waypoint north.
-
- After having done the event chain, cross the water on a bridge (a proper one this time!). You are going to the Voloxian Passage and into Brill Alliance Labs. There some events involving Skritts can happen. You might want speak often with NPCs in the Lab to enquire if events are active in the Serpent Wind.
-
- In any case, just go through the Serpent Wind and discover Dr. Bleent's Encampment. This is one of the most boring heart you would find on this map, just don't do it. Go and collect plants on the floating platform instead.
-
- Then head north-east. You will find Oola's hero challenge. After having doing it, speak to Orl's Krew at the entrance, he will want to enter Oola's Lab, help him do so and follow him through. Note that to enter Oola's Lab you will need an Energy Crystal. This crystal can be dropped on most of the foes in Metrica Province, but if you do not have one in your inventory at that point, here is a good time to learn about the Trading Post! Open the Trading Post, buy the Crystal, then go to the PvP Lobby, find the Trading Post NPC, get your Crystal and leave the Lobby. There you are, now visit Oola's Lab, but be careful: Asuras are very protective of their inventions.
-
- Now that you are out of Oola's Lab, and hopefully in one piece, you will have to pass the proof of fire. To that purpose go South and get the Akk Wilds Waypoint. Then follow the path toward Parnna's Gate. If the gate is already open, you can either wait for the event chain to reset or enter and take it from there. The first events of the chain are when the gate is closed and either involve protecting the gate from the Skritts or getting a matrix crystal converter back from them.
-
- Did you really just die to the destroyers in Calx's Hideout? Anyway, waypoint back to Akk Wilds Waypoint and walk to Parnna's Gate again. But do not worry, no more fire I promise, just enter the skritt cave and get the vista. Then get out of there and get some memories of the Hylek Camp, loop back to the Voloxian Passage and to the Desider Atum Waypoint.
-
- Near the Desider Atum center will be an Hylek named Caracotl to whom you want to speak so that you can escort him to the Michotl Grounds. If he is not there, wait at the Desider Atum where you can learn a bit about crafting!
-
- After having escorted Caracolt, head to Arterium Haven Waypoint. You will wait there for an event chain to start. This event chain starts with defending the Haven from the Hyleks, but you can also take it from the point when you have to escort Rikkiti. Following a skritt around is one of the best experience you can have in game, please wait for it! (as they say in Claypool).
-
- After Rikkiti has delivered his message to the assault force, join the guards in the Hylek territory, destroy their village and finish the event chain by defeating the hylek chieftain.
-
- After having slaughter the Hyleks, choose your path forward. I propose two blue-dashed paths, but you want to en up at the Luminates Plant in any case.
-
- At the Luminate Plant you may want to wait for the Meta Power Overwhelming. NPCs at the Luminates Plant will tell you if something is going on and point you to it if an event of the Meta is active. You might also want to look at your interface. While you are at it, you might want to check on the timer for the World Boss on this map. Type "/wiki et" in your chat and check for the Fire Elemental. If it is in more than 1h you got time, else you either want to take the next steps very slowly (to wait for the next fire elemental, it spawns every 2 hours) or go as fast as you can.
-
- While you are at the Luminates Plant, an Inquest Attack that want to steal the LUM0009 golems] can also happen. This event will take place at the Luminates Plant and then leads you to the Inquest Outer Complex. It's a cool chain to do as you can then get the vista and hero point at the Inquest Outer Complex.
-
Euste%20Ylhes. - After these, you can waypoint back to Rana Landing Complex Waypoint. From there, head West and cross the water. You will find a small Asura camp, you can wait for some Kraits event to happen there.
-
- You are now close to the end of your journey. You will visit the Skritts a last time by going north in the Anthill. Get the Anthill Waypoint and while waiting for the Event, go check the Asuras NPCs. They will sometime speak with Skritts and you will finally be forced to recognize the IQ superiority of Skritts.
-
- Depending on the Fire Elemental timer, you can either go straight in the Thaumanova Reactor or go west where the blue path ends by a cross. Wait here as an event might start to free some captive Asura in the Inquest Lab, this only happens if the |Inquest event at Survivor's Encampment fails.
-
- After that, you only have to wait for the Thaumanova Reactor Fallout Meta Event with the Fire Elemental. While you wait, you can try Goemm's Lab Jumping Puzzle or find a Matrix Cube Key in Thaumanova Reactor and charge it. You will have to wait for the Fire Elemental to fully charge the key. After that, go to the console in the center area of the reactor, use the key and jump in the hole. You will need help to kill the Steam Ogre.
End Note[edit]
Do not forget to return sometimes in the future to complete eventual puzzle jumps you skipped and properly finish map-completion (some things will undoubtedbly miss such as hearts and hero points), and to get some memories of you first steps on Tyria!
