Talk:Vigilant Intricate Gossamer Insignia

The Wiki lacks clarity of highly important information[edit]

One thing that is sorely missing, and I keep getting bitten by, is trying to craft something which it is impossible for me to craft, because the recipe cannot be had unless you have specific content, or access to a specific area, or a specific type of "coin". This is an example of that. These things ought to be somehow noted differently in the wiki crafting recipes, to warn people that they need to look for particular concerns. It's even worse in this case, because you can buy the recipes for the item made by this insignia, but you can't get this stupid insignia, so you waste money buying the recipes only to find out you can't make a key item component because THAT recipe is account bound and cannot be obtained except by having access to an area which is outside of the base game. Or even an area or coin which you may not have explored and/or collected.

I literally just spend about 50gp to get the materials to craft things, thinking I would recoup much of it by selling after crafting it (the goal was to increase my crafting rank), only to discover that I won't be able to do it because it requires this one stupid insignia which I failed to realize could not be crafted or bought, unless you had personal access to certain areas of the game to obtain the recipe... It's not a total loss, but it's aggravating, because I thought I had dug deep enough to expose such. Clearly not. I suggest it would be a major improvement to the wiki if you did not have to dig 15 levels deep just to find this out. I mistakenly assumed since the aggregate items were not account bound, then the insignia was not account bound. *sigh* :-(

And I think THAT is one of the key notes which should be highlighted in crafting sections -- anything which has an account-bound component which must be obtained in-person, and cannot be bought or otherwise obtained by trading, particularly if it is outside basic game play. I would suggest using a text color for such items -- perhaps rust-red-- to indicate to people that this item is itself "locked against simple purchase-crafting". If I cannot buy the recipe, and all the components and/or required sub-recipes, it should be noted differently from other crafting items. At the least, individually account-bound items, such as this insignia, should be marked as such.

Yes, I realize this is not a simple undertaking, but it is something that could be fixed and improved over time, but you need a standard first for denoting such, and then, over time, implementing it.

To that end do I make this comment, that some collective with more authority, I guess, would define such a standard that it could be implemented over time. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Obloodyhell (talk) at 08:13, 24 March 2023 (UTC).

So the issue is that you thought the insignia was account bound? I think that's clearly and quickly clarified in the infobox. Yes, it is an additional click from another page if you are about to craft it and you are not already on this page, but you should always double check everything if you are crafting something expensive. We are trying to simplify the wiki and make as much info clear as possible but in the end we cannot help users with double-checking and similar stuff. ~Sime 12:23, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
