Talk:The Hall of Heroes

Should this page be moved to "Hall of Heroes"? The only GW PvP I did was RA, and I did this very rarely, so forgive me for my ignorance if it's actually called "The Hall of Heroes".-- Shew 02:23, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Err...I guess this would apply to "The Mists" and other areas as well.-- Shew 02:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- So I vote for moving those pages with "The" preceding their names to pages omitting "The" in the title.-- Shew 03:17, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- The is part of the official names, for the most part. Whenever commented on, it is always "the ____". This is also how it is done on the GWW so I kept it this way. Just like The Battle Isles and whatnot. It is always "the _____". It kind of seems weird to say "the center of the universe is Rift" or something like that. "Outside this world is Mists". Yeah... -- Konig/talk 04:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well for the Mists, here's a quote: Before there were humans or dwarves, before there were even worlds or the stars that light the night sky, there was but one thing in the universe—the Mists. I'd think that "the" wouldn't be part of the name since it isn't capitalized in that official description.-- Shew 11:47, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- The White House's page on Wikipedia, for example, is just called "White House," but everyone calls it "the White House."-- Shew 11:53, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Still, all cases of the Rift, the Hall of Heroes, and the Mists has the in front. It may mean singularity, or the name itself. I suggest asking someone from Anet before moving (and if we move on this wiki, we should on the GWW as well). Doesn't matter to me, but it makes more sense to have the pages have "The" in front as well, showing the singularity of the name even if it isn't part of the name. Same reason why it is gw1:The Battle Isles, or gw1:The Arid Sea, gw1:The Apostate (and the other singular demons such as gw1:The Lost, gw1:The Fury, etc.), gw1:The Ancestral Lands, gw1:The Amnoon Oasis, The Great Northern Wall, The Exodus, The Jade Sea, The Shiverpeaks, The Underworld, "the Groove" (which doesn't have a page yet) etc. etc. If we were to go and remove the from these pages, we'd have to for at least five others and future articles which would have "The ______", and do the same on GWW (if we care to keep it "official" or "accurate" - whatever terms you want to use). -- Konig/talk 22:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Even though we would have to do this for more articles, if we go ahead and do it, they won't add up later on/ make the job more tedious. No one says "White House," "Himalayas," etc. without "the", but their pages on Wikipedia don't contain "the". Movie/ book titles that contain "The" at the beginning aren't placed under "t" in the alphabet; they're classified by the word after "the". We could make pages like "The Mists" redirects. This would make moving the GWW pages unnecessary.-- Shew 23:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Still seems too tedious imo, and there are cases where "The" is official in the name. The best way to figure this out would be loading screens (though that may not work as easily in GW2 due to a majority of the game being persistence). For this case, and the Underworld's case, GW1's loading screen (thus official name) does contain "The" in it. For others, such as the Rift and the Mists, we should ask someone at Anet. It is better to be certain of the official name before moving. -- Konig/talk 23:48, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
