Glitch[edit]
Anyone else unable to get the Trebuchet to fire, or aim? I just keep getting "You can not fire in that direction" message, no matter which way I point the dang thing.--Sonyareanne 17:07, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
I as well had the same glitch. But found that if you swim to it and use underwater skils you can destroy it rather quickly.
You need to hold the fire button down for a while before releasing it. How long it is held influences the distance of the shot.
Considering this is a main plot point for all characters, you'd think ANET would make it more user friendly. Why are the trebuchets so far from the ship that you cant even see it. How do we even know that we've hit it? OH.... if you've done it before, you know ONE HIT kills the ship... but what if you're new and you just get frustrated with the trebuchet's lack of user friendly information? That you need to let the channelling on the shot button reach exactly 7/8th of the bar and no more.
You come to wiki. Game should be playable without wiki /End Rant.
Trahearne[edit]
Did anybody else notice that Trahearne was carried a bound corpse as he comes with you to the ship at the end? Is this meant to be Mira maybe? Puk 10:16, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- That's Mira, and she makes a miraculous full recovery by the time you attack the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan late in the game. Vili 点 12:00, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- That is Mira. If Trahearne dies, he drops her as a bundle, the text floating above it confirms that it's Mira. Funny thing is, if you pick it up she turns into Golem parts. That was very.... odd. o_o I took a screenshot and submitted a bug report about it. LuvianBlue 7:55, 20 October 2012
fun to fight against 30 monsters on your own[edit]
see above. No. [Unsigned]
I'll have to agree. Was my third time doing this mission, and it seems to have only gotten worse. "Zombies" that run up to you faster than thieves, then jump-kick you in the face. I can't decide whether that bald chick model is my least favorite, or the tall guy. At least I knew which events to trigger to move quickly onto the next, but I still managed to get myself swarmed (which okay, is in keeping with zombie tradition, but since when do they keep you on the ground with successive hammer blows) returning to the courtyard after lighting the signal for another visit to the repair shop. I can't wait for an expansion so I never have to see an Orrian again. --OldBoy 07:10, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Last phase trigger issue[edit]
If you find that you're stuck in the "help the Lionguard hold out" phase (the part before your mentor makes his big sacrifice) and the final part doesn't seem to be triggering, check to see which of your named friends is following you around as you dodge all those infinite undead. I eventually realized that only Trahearne was with me, and that my mentor was lying dead elsewhere on the beach. Reviving him (since I'd already been fighting for much longer than the time needed in that phase) instantly triggered the scene to start the next bit. 98.216.251.93 21:02, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
- It's not purely the mentor. It may be the mentor and something else. I've had the mentor following me around the whole time and it still seems to happen randomly. I'm not sure what the trigger is, I think it may be total undead killed. In either case, I consider this step broken or bugged. There needs to be some feedback that you're doing SOMETHING. Whatever that something is, be it time, undead murdered, whatever, there needs to be some visual indication of success or failure. Projectmercy 23:08, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- There is a buff, on both Miri and Trahearne, that counts down (about 2 minutes) during the courtyard fight. I found that by standing on the wall, in the green zone but away from mobs, and watching the countdown timer on Trahearne's buff, I knew when the scene would end.Cazimi (talk) 03:22, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- My trigger issue was solved, when the dragon hit me with fear. Mira instantly hit the ground even with 22 minutes of Determined buff left and the quest objective finally updated.--87.178.213.195 09:35, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
Mira is the last trigger - walk with her, kill mobs around her, rezz her, that will trigger the dragon coming in.
Saving your mentor[edit]
Well... sort of, but not really. If you swim back around the island, you can get back onto the beach and into the courtyard if you time the Blightghast's fear inducing roar. It probably helped that I was playing my Guardian and had Aegis, which actually blocked the first hit of fear (the roar seems to hit you several times). There are Lionguard still alive that are fighting the risen, and you can actually defeat the risen inside the courtyard and revive your mentor. However, he/she will simply walk towards the gate and stand in front of it, he/she will not engage in combat nor follow you, though you can speak with him/her. At least, this was the case for me with Forgal. I farted around in the courtyard for a bit, taking screenshots, and then ran around behind the Blightghast, outside of it's roar range and fought Risen there until I died, but they just kept respawning. LuvianBlue 7:55, 20 October 2012
- I felt I should add this, since the big undead dragon's name is never mentioned anywhere in the article, I assume it's called Blightghast since when I hovered over the fear status it said the source was 'Blightghast'. But I could be mistaken, maybe it's the name of the attack the dragon was using? LuvianBlue 8:03, 20 October 2012
- I'm pretty sure when you come back in Retribution he's called Plaguebringer or something, but don't really remember. Vili 点 04:49, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Skipping a step?[edit]
I've been leveling some alternates, and noticed that the game tends to skip over running down to the beach to rescue Mira. It shows as an objective, but as soon as I finish the "abominations on the walls" step finding Mira is immediately checked off as completed. She's waiting by Talon when I go on to that step. Anyone else seeing this, or is it just something about my game install? JuliaMinor (talk) 19:01, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Skip final cutscene[edit]
If you're like me, and doing this mission the zillionth time for a Black Lion key, you may dislike that final cutscene of the ship slowly Tokyo-Drifting across the ocean because you're an impatient sharkrat with places to be. To that end, I managed to skip this cutscene by teleporting onto the boat (via jaunt, but presumably other similar teleports would work). This bypasses the cutscene and instead presents you with the usual "leave completed instance" shiny green star and icon above your minimap. I'm not sure if this was just a glitch or if it's reproducible, but... maybe worth noting? Presumably, the cutscene is triggered by crossing the gangplank from the dock to the ship without previously having stepped on the ship. HealyUnit (talk) 03:38, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
