Talk:Statue of Abaddon
Move or infobox change?[edit]
Technically, this is not an interactive object and as such should not use the {{object infobox}}. However, at the same time, the Statue Plaque could contain all of this information. The Statue Plaque page should exist, but the question I have is "how much goes there, given this page?" We can redirect this page to go to Statue Plaque, or we can have this page left mostly as is with making Statue Plaque with the bare minimum of information that it should have. If we do the former, however, I do not think this article should have the object infobox, but rather be turned into a landmark article (used for articles of locations that aren't marked/named on world map) - using the {{Location infobox}}; it would be odd, however, to use such for merely a statue, or the foyer of the basement, I suppose it would be. I'm leaning towards moving this article to Statue Plaque, personally, but I'd like others' thoughts on the matter. Konig 16:32, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm (obviously) not a wiki standards expert, but speaking as a user and thinking about how the majority of people are going to think of this object/landmark/thingy..... I much prefer your latter suggestion (of keeping this article, changing to landmark, and adding Statue Plaque with bare minimum info). In the strictest sense, I see what you're saying that Statue Plaque is the only labelled object and sort of deserves its own page, but thinking in terms of how people would refer to this in a conversation, it's the statue itself that needs all of this explanation and detail. And if i understand correctly, that's exactly what the "landmark" designation is for anyway - something that isn't a POI but probably should be (silly devs) and which needs its own page. My ten cents. - This is purely a "lore object". Landmark has always been applied rather ambiguously and we can use it for any object that can't be organized by function. The Statue Plaque article is describing the plaque itself and the object, we are better off keeping this information on one page. Connecting the statue to the plaque makes it easier for readers to identify and reference. In absence of an identifying object, we can fallback on the landmark.--Relyk ~ talk < 20:46, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- Not sure which option you're advocating, Relyk! :) Adelas (talk) 22:57, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'd just like to note: if we move everything to the Statue Plaque, this page would remain as a redirect. So people could still search "Statue of Abaddon" and get a proper result. Alternatively, we can make this a generic page for all statues of Abaddon (we have one in Cathedral of Hidden Depths, same model) with a link to Cathedral of Hidden Depths and Statue Plaque. I think that would be more interesting, but it would mean no object infobox since they're not interactive objects or a specific landmark. Konig 03:43, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
