Constant switching of icons and coords[edit]
In my opinion, the constant manual switching of icons and coordinates in the infobox for each festival is excesive and unnecessary work that does not actually have many, if any, benefits. I think the approach the French wiki has for this page is good: they use a single icon (the Festival merchant one, though they have it tweaked to stand out more on the interactive map), and for coordinates they have the Interactive map (which I just added) and a detailed overview under Locations. We should adopt this approach (or a similar one, feel free to suggest something else) and save ourselves troubles with having to manually update this page multiple times per year (what happens once people updating this no longer play and no one will care rnough to update it?). ~Sime 21:26, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. Kind of seems needless countless editing. Either chose the most generic of vendor icons for the NPC, make a unique one, or find a way to have multiple icons shown. Offhand: I approve the use of different icons to represent each festival on the interactive map. Konig (talk) 22:36, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree too (with the way it is now (And sorry for kinda jumping the gun on removing the coordinates and icon; i didn't know about here. I was checking back on the page to see whether i ended up saving the correct location in the end and was wondering where the map had come from so i checked the history and then figured i'd remove the things duplicating it in the infobox.)).
- (And, for what it's worth, one other thing i could think of would be to make a template that has parameters named after the festivals (E.g. something like
{{festival switch|Lunar New Year=<Lunar New Year value>|Super Adventure Festival=<Super Adventure Festival value>|[...]}}
(or perhaps just unnamed parameters (Or maybe even just a template returning the most recent/current festival, with a switch on the value on "the other end".)); which would make it two calls, where the values would be the files and coordinates, respectively, in this case) which can then be set to all the values and it's output be switched to the most recent (or, requiring the addition of a sort of default/no festival active case, to the current) festival, albeit still manually, from the template page.)
