Floating Orbs[edit]

We may need a page (if it doesn't exist) to differentiate between the various floating orbs in the game. Some seem to refill the flight meter permanently, some doesn't (such as the small red ones in Dragonfall or created by the mastery). --Marcellocobra (talk) 20:22, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Unbound magic orbs don't refill the flight bar or endurance (they've never done anything for mounts). Tested this in bloodstone fen and ember bay. -203.194.62.41 08:59, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

I can confirm this too, and I've also fixed the incorrect information about Bond of Vigor resetting the red gauge (it just adds the green bar on top). --Marcellocobra (talk) 09:22, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

Skyscale is too difficult[edit]

Wasted 5 hours trying to collect the eggs; getting killed way too often by overpowered foe; only found 4 eggs; the maps are useless. The Skyscale is too hard to control and too hard to unlock. Stupid useless mount. 161.97.246.51 15:22, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

This is a talk for the wiki page, for your feedback you should use reddit or the forums. The devs have already said that the skyscale is getting buffed, and at the moment it's also required to get a legendary item (so you could argue it's 50% of a legendary). --Marcellocobra (talk) 15:24, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Number of Days[edit]

I started and completed this post adjustment to the timegating. Skyscale Scales, Skyscale Fever, Skyscale Eggs can be done two hours apart and I think Saving Skyscales and the first day of Raising Skyscales and the subcollections are also two hours apart. You still need to wait a day after feeding 4x after the first feeding before you can feed again. On the third day of feeding in Skyscale Care, it's another two hours wait before being able to start the next collection then two hours again after that for the last collection. It's a lot less than 7 days now, I think you can do it in 3 if you have enough time and start early enough.

Actually the time gating is miscalculated. The 3 days listed is mainly for the waiting to feed. However, it should count one less day, because you can feed it right away after starting the Raising Skyscale collection. Also, the time gate for feeding is reset when the new server day begins. That means the waiting between the first and second feeding can be anywhere from 1 minute (if first feeding right before server reset), to 24 hours (if first feeding right after server rest.) Thus the total time gate for three feedings is anywhere from 24 hour + 1 minute, to 48 hours. Not 3 days (72 hours).
Based on these new values, the minimum time gate is 32 hours and 1 minute (1 day, 8 hours, and 1 minute). Then the maximum is 56 hours (2 days and 8 hours). In practice, depending on when you first started feeding, the average time gate is 44 hours (1 day 20 hours).

About the mails to start the next collection[edit]

Regarding the note that the character needs to have completed Descent to get the mails - I don't think that's true. I did the story episode with one character (C1), but many of the collections with another(C2). I didn't notice with the others, but when it came time for Raising Skyscales, I didn't get the timer on C1 and didn't check when it was time for the mail, but got both the timer and the mail on C2.

I just finished Raising Skyscales, will see if I can spot what the criteria may be when it's time for the mail. Maybe login with a character that hasn't had anything to do with the skyscale process to see if they get the mail? Then try C1 again, see if she gets the mail. Does this require completing Living World Season 4?[edit]

The article says, "Unlocking the Skyscale requires access to all episodes of Living World Season 4." Does that just mean having access to the episodes so you could play them if you wanted, or does it require you to have completed them? I notice at least that it does require having completed "Legacy," the third part of "A Star to Guide Us," so that you have access to Sun's Refuge. - Brian Kendig (talk) 13:16, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

You need access to all six S4 maps. You do not need to complete any of the story except for Legacy (doesn't matter which character so long as you can access Sun's Refuge) and the whole of War Eternal (beginning the achievement requires the character you completed Descent with, unsure about progressing it). AFAIK, no other story is needed. Konig (talk) 19:01, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I'll add this detail to the article. - Brian Kendig (talk) 01:13, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
I had gotten as far as Saving Skyscales. I did need to get a glider with the bouncing mushroom mastery before reaching this quest. When I try to get to Djinn in the Hanging Gardens, I can't seem to find a way yet. Other articles say to use skimmer to get over brandstorm (lightning on ground), springer, and jackal or griffon. If so, then won't it require more than just unlocking two episodes? Do we assume we should have HoT and PoF completed (so that the glider with masteries and all the mounts with masteries are obtained)? I have glider with bouncing mushroom mastery and raptor with canyon jumping only and having trouble getting into the Hanging Gardens. Anon 00:00, 17 March 2022
Skimmer is from the main PoF storyline, not the living story individually purchasable episodes. You can just as easily get portaled there, which you might want to consider doing if you don't want to unlock skimmer.--Rain Spell (talk) 05:27, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Collection/Achievement Summary Template?[edit]

I really love the table breaking down the collection/achievements needed to complete the skyscale. I've seen before, like legendary crafting for example, where the materials are listed, but on this page I especially appreciate the addition of the notes on time-gating and the amount of time needed to complete the collections. Do we have a template for this sort of page? It would be great to include this on similar pages in the future. -- Sophianne Persephoni Ming (talk) 03:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

Plush love..?[edit]

I don't tend to buy skins but would be realllly tempted by a plush skyscale <3 Honnaja 08:07, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

This is the player run wiki, most of anet isn't tracking random talk pages or is making the gem store decisions. Should post on the forums or twitter if you want someone to actually see it. --Dak393 (talk) 10:16, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
