Talk:Sanctuary (city)
Untitled[edit]
When i think about it, it seems posible that this place may be named after Kodan in Gunnars hold. First of, he's in one of the norns biggest outposts in gw1 and he is an historian. Maby when Drakkar woke, all in gunnars went down to the dwarf lands, Kodan told stories about a cool guy/girl (us xP) and later they named the place after him. The only thing is, then he did not ingo the rite and survived until drakkar woke (dunno when he did but jalis was what? 130+ year last time we saw him? xP) --Talk 13:22, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe, but who knows :P. You could be exactly right, but its for the developers to dicide :) --BloodStain 13:30, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
What's the source for this? -- Pling \ talk 15:55, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Is there anything more bad-ass than Norn building a city on and living upon a giant iceberg? 68.193.113.198 20:32, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
More capitalisation stuff...[edit]
You're probably sick of this by now Konig, but can I ask whether the Dwarves or Kodan are mentioned by name in the art book? Not that I doubt you, just checking is all. --Santax (talk · contribs) 21:03, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- You probably still want his answer, but it's lowercase like you would say any other race, human, asura, norn, etc. -Taros 96.245.10.133 21:09, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Moving Iceberg?[edit]
I remember reading something such as what the Trivia section says... but that doesn't even resemble the concept art, IMHO. And from the trailer, it also didn't have a very "mobile" look... does anybody know if it really floats and moves around the world? In the trailer it looks like it is located in the mountains. I remember reading what the Trivia section says, though. I would just like to know if anyone knows whether they changed their mind or it was too dificult to make a floating city, or if it really floats? --217.129.133.230 00:05, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well to add in my $0.02, glaciers move... Eive 00:10, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
well it does appear to have several sails on it so it may move to some degree ArthasShadowsong 00:19, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- It was stated by Anet in an interview to be a moving iceberg... And as Eive said, icebergs move on their own as is - because they're just giant floating pieces of ice, and ice floats... -- Konig/talk 02:49, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- I know icebergs float, of course. It's just because in the trailer, this city looked like it was in the mountains, ie not in the water. So I was thinking if they really made it move or if it's another city, or if I just didn't look at it correctly. :) --217.129.133.230 16:45, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- A glacier is a perennial mass of ice which moves over land. -wiki link, read up folks. Eive 17:45, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- I guess that's a valid answer. Thank you. :) --217.129.133.230 10:51, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Suggested move[edit]
I disagree with the move. A simple {{otheruses}} tag will suffice. However, considering the discussion linked, I think that we should wait or consider which would be searched more - a town or a skill - and then either have Sanctuary (skill) or Sanctuary (city). "Kodan sanctuary" is the worst possible name for this page, as it is highly inconsistent with our naming system for articles with shared names and implies that the actual name of the place would be called "Kodan sanctuary" which is incorrect in every way. It's as incorrect as the old name, "Kodan iceberg." -- Konig/talk 22:42, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- I do believe the move is because skills are supposed to take presidence. Aqua (talk|contribs) 22:43, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Technically, it's the most searched use of the term which takes precidence. We cannot tell at this moment which would be, but chances are it would be skill (gw1's case supports this, but for that only obscure things share names with skills for the most part). Still, my point is: "Kodan sanctuary" is a terrible and inconsistent name suggestion. -- Konig/talk 22:45, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Why not Sanctuary (settlement) or something like that? Aqua (talk|contribs) 23:07, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- That would be fine, but imo, "town" or "city" would be better - and it is called an iceberg city. Settlement is, while more ambiguous, longer and really we need to wait for the naming convention that GW2 will used (primarily due to the persistence bit... me feels that towns in gw2 will be like gw1 landmarks). -- Konig/talk 23:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- "Sanctuary (city)" and "Sanctuary" for the skill. I think it's a no-brainer which one will be searched for more and is more important. pling 23:33, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Honor of the Waves source?[edit]
Where's the source for Honor of the Waves and, more importantly, its location? As far as I know, it's just a dungeon - and that doesn't give us much. Konig/talk 10:43, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- Ulof Sindersson. Mediggo 10:56, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- I see. We know there will be only 3 sanctuaries (per the map here - you can see 3 similar structures that match the sanctuary screenshot in the area north of Wayfarer and Snowden Drift), one of which looks broken down. So I guess Honor of the Waves is one of them. What I'm also curious about is if we should add Song of Final Exile which, while not on an iceberg, is a psuedo-Sanctuary of sorts.
