Protection duration[edit]
The superior rune shouldn't give the +20% protection duration instead of +15% like the major? (like the heart on for example) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 93.40.135.3 (talk).
- It probably should but ArenaNet has probably the worst consistency and balance of runes, traits, skills and items I have even seen in a game. Their QA department is either pointlessly small and can't do the job, or they are just bad at their jobs. Stuff like this shows up all over the game and you can bet the majority of it isn't deliberate. 58.110.33.52 07:15, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Root duration?[edit]

Update[edit]
I just tested this on my guardian. Using a hammer (Symbol of Protection) + Writ of Persistence + 20% boon duration (from traits), against a destructible object. Without the rune effects, I can stack up to a max of 9 secs of protection (and the icon will rarely flash to 10). With the runes on, I can get that max to 10-11 (it actually seems to be 10.5, as it spends equal time between both). This seems like enough proof that the 15% duration bonus works.
Also, the root duration is 10 seconds (I clocked 11 in my chronometer, but the extra second probably was from the 20% boon duration bonus).
