Has anyone tried translating it? timRAR 00:38, 29 October 2012 (PDT)
- Translated the northern face, with all but one character on the last line being clear enough to see easily: http://i.imgur.com/XAR1l.jpg Or just the text:
- in memoriam
- osh moran, captain of
- the valor
- the first of many who
- have paid the ultimate
- price for our city's
- freedom. may their coura-
- geous sacrifices be re-
- memb(e)red.
- Where the (e) is the most likely character, but it's not totally clear from the screen shot I took. I suspect that the other faces are similar, but by the time I finished with this translation it was night in Lion's Arch, so the other faces are much harder to read (and I'm not patient enough to wait for more light). - The eastern bottom face is as follows:
- christof charbane
- olivander mcmantis
- hollis ri'atcha
- rosa greenthumbs
- harri showerdrain
- the butcher of drawn
- c a l l s
- the cute lute brute
- simmy toe-toes
- ivar fishbane
- peter panics
- admiral jonas sealegs
- morris mullethawke
- nickkiack sharksnack
- Anyone know if these are references to anything? Some sound like they could be GW1 player names. Tuomir (talk) 08:09, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
The memorial appears inspired in design by the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. --Kichwas (talk) 06:24, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- The largest stone slab at the south side (upper part is partly destroyed after the attack on Lion's Arch) reads:
- EDIT: There's a cluster of 4 small slabs facing to to the south-west. I noticed that the same text has been repeated on the left-most of these slabs. By combining the two versions, I added the text marked in bold below:
- true tom tw?????? (last 6 letters are no longer readable after the attack)
- sally saddlebags
- smilin’ joe finkle
- penelope pegarm
- barnacle jones
- aj cold cuts samson
- the crazy cat lady
- drydock shingles
- maxno maya
- trey valenta
- swingi pete
- the (C?)anthan crew
- captain chris caliber
- questfor mounts
- There are eight more lines at the very bottom, but most of the text here is hidden behind another slab. Titus The Third 11:11, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- EDIT: The last 8 lines are just the text repeated; ending with -ence, -ags, -kle, -arm, -nes, etc.. I also found the missing pieces for the last 4 lines from other slabs (see main page). Titus The Third 14:07, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
