Can we get a screenshot of him? -- Armond Warblade 22:35, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Prolly not. Until GW2 actually comes out we shouldn't use anything unless released by ANet. --Hellbringer(T/C) 23:51, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

- Well I forgot about Primordorus having that pic so I guess its okay. --Hellbringer(T/C) 16:43, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

- I'll upload the screenshot being used on Guildwiki if that's alright with everyone. It's good quality and I took it myself, so surely copyright would not be an issue as I own the screenie? Im not sure though and I'd quite like some advice -Malchior 20:55, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Jormag
In a video interview with Anet an employee calls the ice dragon "Jormag". I'm not sure on the actual spelling, but heres a link to the interview. Lord Caeliat 15:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Great find! You're right to wonder about the spelling. For those interested, it is Jeff Grubb talking about the different races. He says at ~1:15 the Norn are driven south by the ice dragon, Jormag. Anyone object to moving this article to that name with this spelling? --Aspectacle 06:56, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'd prefer a bit more conformation on this seeing as we don't know the correct spelling, but at the same time I suppose I can't ask for much more. I guess i'm not against it but I'd rather just leave a note on the page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Waverien Tidas (talk • contribs).
- For the time being, I'd also just put up a note with this until it appears written somewhere on the official site or in some article or elsewhere. It's true that it probably will be Jormag, but it could as well be Jawremegg or something as crazy as that. ;-) · LOQUAY · 17:21, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Jormag's the most likely spelling at the moment, and it certainly beats "Drakkar". --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:21, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Drakkar is just fan speculation while Jormag, regardless of the correct spelling, was said by an actual Anet employee. Lord Caeliat 19:03, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- I say we move this to Jormag, if the spelling is different, we can move again. I wouldn't be surprised if people will use Jormag as a search for the Dragon of Ice and Snow anyways, seeing how it is the most "popular" spelling of the pronounciation. -- Konig/talk 21:19, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Move it but leave a redirect on this page... Mini Me 22:42, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

I think Jormag is a reference to Jörmugandr, the world serpent, son of Loki, exists in Norse mythology and is known for killing the world tree. Jormag is driving away the Norn, and the name similarity seems obvious enough. Should we include this reference? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.219.173.121 (talk • contribs).
- Be bold! ANet have stated that they are basing lore elements of GW2 off classical civilization and mythology, so that seems like a fairly likely reference. --Santax (talk · contribs) 19:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'd agree if it wasn't for two things. First, there is already a reference to the world serpent. Second, if they were having a dragon based off of Norse Mythology, why not go with Fafnir? -- Konig/talk 20:59, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
I personally don't think that Drakkar is the same as Jormag...Drakkar is "water dragon" and has actually fins...so he can't walk on land...but Jormag has arms and legs as u can see in the concept art. Either the picture is not correct for this dragon or there will be more than one "Shiverpeak" dragon.79.101.239.139 16:40, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- The dragon in Drakkar Lake shouldn't really be called a water dragon have you actually looked at him in GW1 that lake is a kiddie pool to him and you cant really tell details apart from a blurry dragon in a lake from concept art which isn't exactly how its going to look. - Giant Nuker 17:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Mate...it has fins ._. and I think that entire "Drakkar lake" area is a lake.If you look on map you can actually see a bit of water in southern parts and when u enter Varajar Fells you can also see frozen waterfalls going from Drakkar lake. If the dragon was frozen there for ages...centuries...area has possibly changed arround him and the only clear thing we could see is actually him. If you look close enough at him...he is like a plesiosaurus (water dinosaur) not like any GROUND creature. You can clearly see his fins. Just don't get it...how would he be able to walk on them? :P Sometimes...it's been even stated by ANet members...concept art isn't true. We have seen this dragon in GW1,why would they change it?KristinaBlur 06:56, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- At first glance, and in fact due to the ice, it does look like he has fins, but on Guru (specifically here) the model was pulled out and Jormag's limbs shaped too wrong to be fins. Jormag's limbs look more like a mantid's limbs than fins. Those limbs have no way to catch water to push Jormag, so they cannot be fins. They look more like arms with scythes on the end. As for why change how Jormag looks - well, the GW1 model is very sharp (as in, rough edges) and is very simplistic and quite frankly, doesn't make sense as to how it moves unless it is like a Mandragor (which I somehow doubt). So changing it while keeping the general shape (i.e., change the limbs a bit, round the head and body more, and/or add/remove spikes or something) actually makes more sense than leaving it as it is. -- Konig/talk 10:33, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I do agree with you at this point Konig, but at first it looked like fins + frozen in lake=makes sense to be something from water, but yeah I was wondering about that, front "fins" should've been shorter in order to make him swim. It's just we got to wait and see :) but I'd actually want him to be from water...makes it spookier. Situation : Standing on frozen lake without any worries and something big pops out and eats you XD eeek! 93.86.191.164 15:36, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Name
This MMORPG.com article identifies this dragon as 'Drogus'. The author of the article got the name 'Xytan' wrong, though, so there might not much value to this. Then again, 'Drogus' and 'Jormag' don't exactly sound very similar. Meh. 16:06, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- that author is retarded - Wuhy 16:59, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe the author got the name for the "Deep Sea Dragon". Or the name is typo. Obie Quiet 17:02, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- That author also called Zhaitan "Xytan."-- Shew 17:42, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- The author has made a statement here. Considering that Jormag is the name given by an actual ANet employee, Drogus is probably the deep sea dragon's name. --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:47, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't trust anything of that article, to be honest. Everything there is from other articles, except one line on the Sylvari, and there are typos for not only the dragons' names, but the Shiverpeaks (one word, not Shiver Peaks). I don't think we should trust anything from the interview, tbh. -- Konig/talk 20:25, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- Bear in mind the interview was at PAX, and the article is a transcription, therefore things may be spelled how they are pronounced. --Santax (talk · contribs) 20:33, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- Precisely, Santax-- small spelling errors like this are no reason whatsoever to doubt the authenticity of an article. An entire name change, however; that seems a little odd-- not quite sure what to think of that. 75.90.149.4 18:23, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Concept Art
I found a concept art image some time ago of him of his time sleeping in the drakkar lake. I though of put it on his page the same way that Kralkatorrik and Primordius have their own pre-awakening concept art, but I preffered to put it on discussion page first because:
- It's a scan of a the image on an open book, so it isn't a pure image and I would like to know if someone has the original image (I didn't find it on this wiki or on first game wiki concept art pages).
- As it's a scan and I've not sure if it's from a magazine or from a GW official Concept Art book or something, I'm not sure about the policy of puting it here.
Here you have the image: Drakkar model
Tell me if I can put it on his page (or edit it by yourselves if you preffer it), or if you have the original image. Thanks. Lokheit 14:51, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- This is from PCGamer.
- The quality is too poor to illustrate the article IMO.
- As far as I know, there's no digital version of this concept art. Chriskang 17:13, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

- The concept art from the magazine (to the right) is Jormag, the underwater creature (we only see its head, cannot say it is a dragon) is not Jormag. -- Konig/talk 19:09, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- The photo of the Magazine to the right was taken by a friend of mine because she lives in the US and I don't, so I couldn't buy the mag to read. I was interested in what it said and looked like so she took a photo. It's fine to use but I took a better one a while back: [1] and also a close up of the text: [2]. Fine by me if anyone wants to use them. If anyone wants any other photos of anything in the magazine then just let me know here and I can probably get a picture for you, providing I remember to check and the like. If not, you can get ahold of me in game as "Malchior X". (Also, hi Konig! =P) -Malchior 07:49, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

The norn
"...test their heroes against it, and it is believed that when a hero damages the tooth, the norn will rise up and defeat Jormag once and for all". I don't know where this is taken from but it gives us a glimpse at some of GW2 story - guess how the player will recruit the norn people?
