Talk:Infusion
I guess, Infusion page can be created based on info from https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/ --Malgalad 10:00, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Question about infusion slot[edit]
Once you infused an item (ring, armor, etc...), can you overwrite the infusion, and put another infusion later on? Yes4me 06:33, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, you can. --Malgalad 13:22, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
However, if you want to keep that infusion and use it on another item, make sure you use extraction device sold on the island in the fractal lobby.
Offensive slot: use offensive infusions (i.e. +power or +precision) Defensive slot: use defensive infusions (i.e. +vitality or +toughness) and Utility slots: use utilities that boost magic find or gold find
Any slot will take a versatile simple fractal infusion bought in the FoTM lobby for 75 fractal relics.
mystic forge[edit]
would be nice to have some receipes here or at least links to them for all infusion receipes that can be crafted in the mystic forge --MG127 22:36, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- The recipes are already listed on the pages for the individual infusions, which are already linked. But I've added a link to Mystic_Forge/Other_Items#Infusion_recipes in the "see also" section. --Felbryn 23:10, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
Laurels' infusions[edit]
Seems none of them have agony resistance, not even the offensive/defensive ones.--Lon-ami 15:21, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
- This really is strange, seems stupid to spend 50 laurels (amulet+infusion) and not even get the AR :s 78.22.121.159 16:47, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Makes sense if you don't plan on doing Fractals ever.
- Non fractal players need a way to have equal stats for other PvE/WvW content (IMO, the better way would have been for the pink gear to ONLY offer agony resistance above orange gear, and not non-fractal/universal related stat superiority). --24.8.61.135 16:00, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
- Makes sense if you don't plan on doing Fractals ever.
5 Utility Infusions[edit]
The official Flame & Frost page [1] says that there are 5 new utility infusions. Think that's a typo, or is there one we haven't found yet? --Felbryn 22:58, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- The fifth one is Swift Infusion, but for some reason it's not in the vendor's list. See it with this chat code: [&AgGmmQAA]
- Either it's a typo, or there's a bug preventing one of them from showing up in the merchants' window. —Dr Ishmael 23:12, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Just out of curiosity, you're ruling out a new loot drop and a mystic forge recipe that we haven't discovered yet because...? --Felbryn 23:44, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Basic vs. Fine Infusions[edit]
The links in the Basic and Fine tables go to the same pages, which mention +5 Agony resistance. Is there a different category of Basic infusions that don't have any Agony resistance, or is the first table redundant? Meagen/talk 19:15, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- The infusions purchasable from a laurel merchant give +4 to an attribute and have no agony resistance (or at least that's what the tooltip says). It takes awhile after a major patch for all the new info to percolate throughout the wiki. --Felbryn 22:12, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
2 types of infusion[edit]
If I understand the other articles correctly (like Beta Fractal Capacitor (Infused) ), you can upgrade your ascended item in the mystic forge and get a +5 agony resistance built in in the device. On top of that, you then still have an infusion slot to use, effectively giving you a potential +10 agony resistance on each ascended item. I think this is very much worth mentioning on this page that these different 'infusions' can be used on each item for more agony resistance. That said, had I known this from the start, i'd have upgraded my back item first. Qiff 12:33, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
- I propose that we use "infusion" for the upgrade component and create a new page called "infused" for equipment that has "inherent" agony resistance (with a disambiguation link at the top of each page, of course). Thoughts? --Felbryn 23:08, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
Recipes[edit]
This is seriously getting frustrating. In the patchnotes ANET said the recipes for the normal infusions are reduced to 5 skillpoints, aka. 50 Philosopher's Stones, and for Versatile to 100, aka. 10 Skillpoints. Now a random IP just edited the Vital Infusion Recipe so i actually tried to make it. I only had 9 Philosopher's Stones on me but the forge did not show 1/50 beneath it but it was ok with just one. Can anyone else verfiy some recipes that they need only 1 Stone for the normals each? If so i'll make a Note to the normal ones and fix the pages. Magistrella 12:42, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
AR for utility infusions?[edit]
The list breaks down which items offer agony resistance and I see that the fine ones do and the basic ones don't. The utility infusions are listed as fine, but the table for them doesn't have a column for agony resistance. Is this an oversight or do they not give +5? --66.229.140.127 21:14, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Utility infusions obviously give benefits for another purpose. You can put omni infusions in utility slots.--Relyk ~ talk > 21:41, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- To answer your question, utility infusions do not give agony resistance. --Felbryn 21:57, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Omni Infusions[edit]
All omni infusions provide AR if you believe the omni infusion table near the bottom. However, the listing at the top claims the basic one does not give AR, when in fact that's all it does. ButeoRegalis (talk) 20:02, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
2 of the same infusion?[edit]
Can you put multiples of the same infusion on an ascended 2 handed weapon? I ask because of the limit placed on sigils. --EvaPilot1 (talk) 12:56, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- There aren't any restrictions on stacking infusion bonuses like there are on stacking sigil bonuses, so it should be okay. I know you you get the benefits for identical bonuses using two one-handed weapons, so the same should apply to a single two-handed. Caveat: although the game does give me +10 AR as expected, but I haven't explicitly tested whether the non-AR bonuses are also doubled. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 14:22, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
More tables![edit]
Which slots go on which pieces of equipment is clearly the most complex bit of this page. Here's a table:
Item type | Infusion slots available | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Agony (Infused) | Agony (Attuned) | Defensive | Offensive | Utility | ||
AR per slot | 1 to 30 | 1 to 30 | 3 to 7 | 3 to 7 | 3 to 7 | |
Back item | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | |
Amulet | 0 | 0 | 1 (Defensive, Offensive or Utility) | |||
Rings (x2) | 1 | 1 | 1 (Defensive or Offensive) | 0 | ||
Accessories (x2) | 0 | 0 | 1 (Defensive or Offensive) | 0 | ||
Armor (x6) | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
Weapons (x2) | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
(Table 1)
I can't think of a way to neatly label that the slot depends on the item without making it look like amulets have three slots. (yellow ticks would be confusing imo, and hiding the merged cells is confusing too). Help? -Chieftain Alex 20:28, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- Technically, the AR per slot for non-agony slots is 0 to 7 (infusions from laurel merchants have no AR). You also have mixed up weapons and armor (or maybe offensive and defensive), and missed that ascended back items can have either offensive or defensive slots.
- The basic issue with a table seems to be that some slots are exclusive (e.g. you cannot have both an offensive and defensive slot) while others can be combined (e.g. you can have both an infused slot and an attuned slot), and so you are reluctant to use the same checkmark to represent both cases. Since that distinction breaks along boundaries of the slot type, it might be handled best with a sub-header; e.g.
Item type Infusion slots available Combinable Slots Mutually-Exclusive Slots Agony (Infused) Agony (Attuned) Defensive Offensive Utility
- Alternately, you could combine offensive, defensive, and utility into one column with more complex values; e.g.
Item type Infusion slots available Primary Agony (Infused) Agony (Attuned) Back item Offensive or Defensive 1 0 Amulet Offensive, Defensive, or Utility 0 0
- But I'm not really sure that any table option is really better than a simple bullet-list that explains stuff in prose. Tables are good for quick reference, but it's not like this information is so complex or arbitrary that people are going to need to look it up frequently; once you learn that weapons have offensive slots and armor has defensive slots, you're not likely to forget it. --Felbryn (talk) 01:07, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- It's fairly simple, but yet people are (understandably) confused until they get their heads around it, and if we can help them do that then we should. I think Table 3 sums things up really nicely; here's the full version:
- Kinda makes half the text we have on the page feel pointless, no?
- Table 4 is great, nice job Felbryn & Dagger. I haven't got them ingame, but Ad Infinitum and The Ascension both look to take defensive, offensive (or versatile) infusions. I don't know if they also take utility infusions - they appear ingame as "Unused Upgrade Slot" apparently. I think we should omit the edge cases from this table anyway -Chieftain Alex 12:19, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- I would guess that Anet decided legendaries should be able to hold any type of upgrade that any ascended item of the same slot could hold, so offensive/defensive/versatile (but NOT utility) would make sense, and that seems to be consistent with what their respective wiki pages currently say. I agree that it's not important to document that in the table. --Felbryn (talk) 20:51, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

Infusion level requirements[edit]
Back items can't take agony resistance infustions when they are listed as lvl 78. All the agony resistance infustions are lvl 80 -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.34.93.103 (talk • contribs) at 9:08, 25 August 2016 (UTC).
- Ah, interesting that. Actually the only infusions with a level requirement are the "+N Agony Infusion"s (which just happen to be the primary infusions now) and Moto's unstable ones. Everything else has no requirement and works fine in lv78 gear. -- Dagger (talk) 10:29, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Deconstruction[edit]
I would like to suggest inserting another section after 'Two attributes' for 'Deconstruction,' which should probably have a link included over to the INFUZ-5959 page. The trivia note about +14 and +15 infusions might be good to include on this page also.
Just to confirm: Each character can gain a max of 162 stat points from infusions?[edit]
Currently, if a character equips a +9 Attribute Agony Infusion in each of the 18 active infusion slots (6 from armor, 2 from weapons, 10 from trinkets), the maximum extra stats obtained is 18x9=162, right? --60.53.135.131 20:48, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- If you're talking about Agony Resistance, then yes. If your'e talking about the other stats (e.g., power), then no since those are only at +5 tops (thus only 90 max of power, etc.). Konig (talk) 20:57, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- EDIT! Actually, no, you can go higher than 162 if you wanted to. Maximum Agony Infusion is +30, though those will not give any other attribute bonus. So if you really wanted to max out AR for some odd reason beyond the required 150, you can get up to 18*30, or 540 AR. It won't do you any good, however, since 150 AR will minimize damage from agony. Konig (talk) 21:01, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Ohh, it seems I misunderstood what the "+9" part of the Attribute Agony Infusion meant! So it refers to the AR, not the "regular" attributes (power, precision, etc)!
So no matter which Attribute Agony Infusion is used, the bonus to the specific regular attributes is always +5 only? That is, the maximum bonus to regular attributes is 18x5=90 like you stated? --60.53.135.131 21:35, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
