Talk:Hylek Tongue

I think that these collection unlocking items don't drop in lvl1-15 areas (not to confuse new players). For example I killed a gazillion Hyleks in Metrica Province and Caledon Forest and didn't get any tongue. I got one quickly in Brisban Wildlands. Can anyone confirm ? Did someone loot an Hylek Tongue (or another collection unlocker) in a lvl1-15 map ? Eowin (talk) 10:04, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

I tried Cuatl Morass as well, killed countless frogs and didn't get one, I went to Brisban Wildlands and tried for an hour, finally I got fed up... took off my pants and in three kills got one. I can confirm that they drop in Metrica Province. Just got one in Cuatl Morass on my level 10 character.

Drop requirement unclear

Can someone clarify what "An increased crafting ability is a requirement for dropping" means exactly? 108.45.46.243 23:07, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

It means that on my secondary account, I did not see a single drop of this item or its related counterparts until after a number of years, I decided to increase my crafting levels to a point where I could make one of the weapons. SarielV 03:35, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

I don't remember if I'd actually made one of the weapons first. Given that the main component Sun Beads need to be sought out and bought, I probably hadn't. SarielV 03:37, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying. My gut feel is this might not be related (a single data point seems a bit iffy). I'm going to remove it for the moment - I'll have a go at killing some frogs on my alt account with no crafting and see if i can get it. -Chieftain Alex 06:58, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

I get it, but I'm sure it will be bourne out. Check also for Krait Scale and Ogre Tooth if you get a chance. SarielV 19:58, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
