Talk:General Almorra Soulkeeper
If she had a warband she must've been a Charr, I'll add that.--AdventurerPotatoe - 11:49, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Timeline[edit]
Please excuse any bad form presented here, this is my first wiki post of any kind, ever ... I was just wondering if it would be better to state the year in which Almorra sends Dougal et al out to Ascalon? For the time being saying a year ago works fine, but as the game presumably progresses in the future and the present date moves forward, this would become inaccurate. Satis Everskye 09:41, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's been a pet peeve of mine when people say "x time ago" in articles, especially for GW as the years are constantly moving on... I'm gonna edit the article. -- Konig/talk 22:58, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Necromancer[edit]
Judging by her last name, would it be likely she is a Necromancer?
--Abbess Katherine 04:21, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- She sounds like a warrior in the book - or some kind of physical fighter. -- Konig/talk 04:43, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Agreeing with Konig. The name could refer to anyone/anything that kills, and as she is part of the Blood Legion (which is famous for their "prowess in traditional battlefield combat") it is more likely that she is a physical fighter than a necromancer. -- Kings & Queens | T | C | 11:33, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- And I thought she was wearing plate armor at one point anyways? Zolann The Irreverent 00:42, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Mesmer[edit]
In the book it states that she is a Mesmer.
- page? as I don't think she is. --The Holy Dragons 20:29, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- I don't remember reading that at all. - 21:39, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) The only folks in books called mesmers are Jennah and Anise. No one in GoA is called a mesmer - at least not directly - and the only time the profession is even mentioned is in the sewers when Dougal talks of the spellcasting professions. Konig/talk 21:41, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- I sense a troll. 68.144.99.199 01:50, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- Somehow I thought Almorra was a guardian. She is stated to have used a blade during the creation of Dragonbrand, though. Mediggo 07:12, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- I thought of Necromancer (name) or warrior. But NPC's or characters from the books are able to have a profession that isn't 1 of the 8 playable ones. --The Holy Dragons 12:56, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

She has hard time recruiting charr?[edit]
As a gladium wouldn't most other charr be contemptuous of her? Must make it hard to recruit other charr into the Vigil, unless they're gladium too. Ramei Arashi 17:05, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Everyone knows her tale that she became a gladium because her entire warband went Branded when Kralk flew. The charr have been hit very hard by the initial Dragonbrand corruption and the assaults of Branded themselves, and this occured very recently so it's still in fresh memory. But yeah, it's worthwhile looking into this, and how the charr view the Vigil as an organization as whole. Mediggo 18:51, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- While most Vigil I saw were norn, human, and sylvari, I don't think the charr would be any harder to recruit into the Vigil than into the Order of Whispers or Durmand Priory. Yeah, gladiums are looked down upon in charr culture, but in a way the Vigil is a new inter-recial warband of hers that isn't tied to a legion. Konig/talk 19:26, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'd rather compare Vigil to a legion than a warband under no chain of command. Mediggo 12:35, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Rank: Tribune?[edit]
In the game, it states that she is a Tribune, not a Legionnaire. The source is Crusader Arevirr Soulhammer in Iron Marches. I did not read the book, so I don't know if the game text is incorrect or not. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Revel Farr} (talk).
- As fgar as I know, two NPCs (one in Divinity's Reach, one in Iron Marches) call her tribune. However, Ghosts of Ascalon, Almorra herself iirc, and other Vigil members during the Vigil personal story (and I think elsewhere too) call her a former legionnaire. She worked under a centurion that had multiple warbands patrolling eastern Ascalon when the Dragonbrand was formed. Even Anet has called her a legionnaire before becoming a gladium. She was a legionnaire - those two NPCs are wrong, plain and simple. Typos happen (may have been the same developer for those two NPCs, or originally Almorra was to be a tribune but they lowered her rank). Konig/talk 06:04, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- (time lapse realised) maybe slap one of those lore inconsistency things on it and see if the developers change it to reflect the book? -Chieftain Alex 18:36, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed, and done. And @ your summary: Given the book was heavily edited by Jeff Grubb, I doubt he'd let a full paragraph describing how she wasn't in command of the operation but her superior, a centurion, was slip by. Konig 20:10, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Who is Almorra's other cub?[edit]
Ajax Anvilburn's sibling, and presumably, the sire of Ember Doomforge. --210.186.163.10 17:27, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
- Unfortunately all we know is that Ajax's sibling is a female. We aren't even sure which one is the parent of Ember, as there's no interaction between Ember and Ajax if you go with Minister's Defense. Konig 20:18, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
LWS4 Story instances?[edit]
Without spoilers, can we get a definitive answer as to which instances shes in? ~ Trevor95251 16:15, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
Guardian or Guardian primary Warrior secondary[edit]
Almost 8 years later, following the profession question/debate. My answer: Guardian or Guardian/Warrior hybrid (ala GW1?). Yeah, NPCs don't follow the same rules as players; Canach is an explosives expert (Engineer) in heavy armor and wielding a sword (Warrior). But the final battle of Visions of the Past story where we see her fight Ryland- she cuts loose with a lot of Guardian-y abilities and visual effects. She used Guardian #1 sword skills- Sword of Wrath, Sword Arc, Sword Wave (edit: but follows an Arc-Wrath-Wave order, though). She drops Sanctuary (couldn't find it in combat log, but it fits the description and effects). She drops burning fields colored magical Guardian blue rather than mundane nonmagical red. Definitely Guardian, although in phase 2 of her fight, she drops her sword-and-board combo for dual swords. And I don't remember her doing Guardian-y stuff in the fight with the Death-Branded Shatterer. So... Rest In Peace, General. :-( It was an honor to serve under you and fight under your command. --Messenger (talk) 07:48, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- The Sanctuary effect is part of her unique skill Almorra's Massacre, I believe. That skill seems like a mix of Sanctuary and Vigil's Inferno - dropping a protective bubble and filling the room with AoE fireballs (which is what Vigil's Inferno was). TBH, I don't even remember her fighting in the Death-Branded Shatterer fight... or any moment before, not even in the PS step where the Vigil HQ is under attack.
