Talk:Gendarran Fields
Map[edit]
I just added a high-quality fully-zoomed in map of this area from BWE2. Enjoy! God Of Fissures 01:49, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
- The map needs updating, the new map has a couple of locations changed.202.78.140.252 10:23, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Recently got 4720XP and 24s for completing this map. Was lvl48 at the time. We should really get more data on the rewards as they seem to scale with level. -Wrei110.175.241.56 19:31, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- The map is missing a vista on the cliff edge across the water from the peninsula north of Northfields. Morgaine 15:58, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- The map is missing the Quaggankeep Channel POI halfway between Broadhollow Bluffs and Ascalon Settlement. Morgaine 16:04, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- The map is missing the Ambush Camp POI inside the Stonebore Vaults mountain. Morgaine 16:35, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- The map is missing a vista on the north end of Cornucopian Fields. Morgaine
I expect that other bits are missing too, but I won't bother listing more omissions. Someone with the zone 100% completed really needs to post an image update. Contributing maps before you have 100% is of dubious utility. Morgaine 16:46, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
PS. How are full maps captured without the really annoying paintbrush overlay obscuring their features when you zoom out? Morgaine 16:49, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Take multiple images, cut and paste in an image editing software. That how I'd figure folks do it - or they have a very large screen. Konig/talk 16:53, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- You take multiple screenshots at full zoom, crop off the border and map controls, and composite them together. You still get a tiny bit of inconsistency from the moving cloud layer, but it's a lot less noticeable than GW1's cloud layer. I'm planning on creating maps like [[:File:Bloodtide Coast borders.jpg]] for every zone eventually, but I suppose I can upload simple non-border maps in the meantime. —Dr Ishmael 16:53, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice, Konig and Dr ishmael. Having to go through that process is pretty annoying. I wonder why Anet deliberately obscure maps when you zoom out with that utterly useless paintbrush effect, which irritates in-game multiple times every single hour of gameplay. It's a severe regression on GW1, and I think I'll make it a Feedback request eventually to allow the effect to be disabled. Morgaine 17:27, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
The two waypoints that are missing are Winter Haven Waypoint, and Stoneguard Gate Waypoint.TwinHerder 00:29, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- New map uploaded, 100% clean max-zoom seamless. —Dr Ishmael 04:03, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Waterlogged Chest[edit]
There is a waterlogged chest in a cave in the mountains on the southeast border of the map. I do not believe this is a part of the jumping puzzle. The chest is trapped. I cannot find any information on the chest or how to bypass the trap. I went alone (forever my fatal (haha) flaw) and so failed when the trap killed me. If anyone has info on this can it be added to the Gendarran page? 24.21.245.177 22:32, 11 September 2012 (UTC) --nyn
- You are correct. This is not part of the puzzle, but an extra put in to throw players off. There is no way to disable the trap and nothing in the chest. Before you get to this chest, there is a sign warning you of the danger that says something like, "Greed leads to death." So beware! --Musha 18:26, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- The sign says "Greed is Danger". There are also 2 skales in the water near it. If you go diving down, you'll find a grotto with 5 mechanical fish heads that spew icy damage. They are split 3 at one side and 2 at another. I haven't found anything else down there. DeirdreGreymoon 02:16, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
- The sign is overlaid with the words "Greed is Dangerous" but the writing on the sign actually translates to "Warning!! Broodmother"

Chef Ingredient[edit]
You can find Spinach field west of Provernic Crypt (center nord of map), it is guarded by a Veteran Ettin. It is possible however to harvest without fight as it is patrolling a little. As I'm not familiar with page edition, I'll let wiki gurus do it. Sorry 192.168.104.82 16:15, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Explorers[edit]
There is a ridge on the South side, East of the Cornucopian Waypoint, a little West of the Stonefish Beach. There are two NPCs named Explorer Caitlyn and Explorer Dacen. There's a sack of "Phil Thackery's Magical Moa Feed". But I haven't found a way to actually get up onto the ridge. The ridge below it has wolves on it and the entrance to the waterlogged chest grotto is on the ridge with the wolves. Has anyone found a way up onto that top ridge? DeirdreGreymoon 02:31, 28 October 2012 (PDT)
while going through the cave, i opened up that chest and almost died. figured something else was in the water so i went down there and swam around for a bit. i just happen to go through the right paths and ended up going up this cavern where the ceiling starts to fall on you pushing you back. just do some stop and go traffic, make it through the falling rocks and you'll end up right at there campsite. they'll tell you that they are happy you made it through the water way but you werent as fast as them. they then tell you that you can jump to the other side where the chest is but if you get to close to the treasure the moa's will hurt you. DO NOT! fight them, they have like a million hp's. it says on Phil thackeray's magical moa feed that theres a change that it will drop feed to distract them but i went back and forth maybe 15 times and it never once dropped any. So I got my polar bear and reef drake out and put on my signet of stone for them to tank, i was then able to get the treasure 1. 1 Peridot Nugget, 1. Mark of Potency 1. strong worn scale coat 1. strong swindler Gloves. No achievement
UPDATE: theres only one small hole under the trapped chest, it might be hard to find bc everything is so foggy but its there. light all the ancient torches up and once all of them are lit, you'll summon ghosts on the top floor of that cave system, kill them and you'll feel a rumble, which the cave being cleared under the water. once you made it through the now cleared tunnel you'll pass through another set of stone heads on the wall that do ice damage, from there you'll head up the cave where the ceiling starts to fall on you.
Unmarked Chest[edit]
In Northern part of Witherflank River, due North of the Vista there is a chest that doesn't have a name or anything. You can just see it if go back behind the cliffs north of that vista. Maybe add a trivia section for this and some of the other notes in here? BladeDVD 02:24, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Daily Veteran Slayer[edit]
I would like to start a list of veterans for the daily that are found here and there location. There are 2 veteran in the "Arena" Battle pit event.(working on figuring out how to add link). Veteran spider at vista west of icegate waypoint. Micro
- Yes, I like that idea. I've started to mark them on maps as well. Hencovic 21:45, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- Veterans aren't that hard to find. There are two places in Queensdale alone that have 3 persistent veterans around them. —Dr Ishmael 22:16, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Missing Skill Points Location?[edit]
In the game it said 7 locations, but the wiki page only listed 6 ... (Can't find the last one >< Yet my Warrior did find the 7th spot, but that's few months ago, and I can't find it now with my Ele.) Bear08 06:30, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- The one in Stonebore Vaults is missing. I'll add it at Ancient Cave Spring (Gendarran Fields) (because there's another in Wayfarer Foothills). —Dr Ishmael 14:32, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
Second Aetherblade Site MISSING
New Point of Interest[edit]
there seems to be a new point of interest that was added south of Broadhollow bluffs waypoint that I can't seem to get to, no matter where I go. has anyone been able to accuire this point?
- No, it's supposed to be part of the new JP that becomes available next week. 75.36.181.135 06:05, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Scratched Tree[edit]
There is a separate wiki entry for Scratched Tree, but nothing on this page. Indeed, if you didn't already know about the Scratched Tree, you likely would never find out about it without stumbling on the separate entry. Would lobby for the wiki meisters to add something to this page, perhaps under Trivia? 24.13.89.33 18:06, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- It's linked on The Lawen Ponds, exactly where it should be. —Dr Ishmael 18:09, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- This and other cases of "interesting landmarks" make me wonder if there might be some merit in having an... I don't know, "unusual things" addition to zone overview pages. When people are looking for things in a specific zone, they almost always go to the main page first, and then the sub-zone (or heart or POI etc) pages if they can't find something on the main page. So I'd guess many neat things like the Scratched Tree are fairly unknown. The Mysterious coin is another great example - it's not even linked to by anything except Coin and the Coin disambig. Vili 点 21:27, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- "...exactly where it should be." Reminds me of CBS anchor Walter Cronkite's famous closing line at the end of every telecast: "And that's the way it is."
- I was just trying to make the wiki helpful. But, of course, everybody will follow the link to Lawen Ponds and find this information. Oh wait, The Lawen Ponds is the only zone on this map that has absolutely no vistas, hearts, etc. associated with it on this page. The only reasonable interpretation of this by the average reader is that there is no purpose ever in going there, except to touch on it for map completion.
- Again, nobody is going to find out about the Scratched Tree from the wiki unless they have already found out about it from reddit. Hidebound policies only make this wiki less relevant, when I would like to see it become more so. This information is not available on this wiki, except through a fortuitous click. Yes, I realize it is not earth-shattering or game-changing information, but for anybody who played a 55 monk in GW1, indeed, for just about any of the people who seriously played GW1, this tree would become a pilgrimage, if more people knew of it. It seems every other day, somebody in map chat is making a comparison or favorable reference to GW1. Many of those people no doubt played 55 monks.
- Vili's idea is a good one, and that would certainly work. It does appear to be something of a project, though, adding another layer to your existing template for websites -- another project, if you will. Without creating any extra work for anybody, I thought adding something such as this under a Trivia heading would fit within the existing template and be sufficient. If Trivia headings can accommodate allusions to songs or other popular culture, surely they can accommodate something nearer and dearer to the hearts of GW players. 24.13.89.33 14:43, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
- I always thought that the main purpose of the wiki was to document everything, including minutiae. Any helpfulness to players is a side effect. --Rhynchelma (talk) 14:59, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
2nd entrance to Lion's Arch?[edit]
The article says:
From Lion's Arch: The portals are north of Canal Ward Waypoint in Canal Ward and northeast of Smuggler's Waypoint in Postern Ward.
I assume the first exit is north of Trader's Forum.
But where is this second exit that's mentioned? --138.75.212.57 21:33, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- That path was closed off. I've updated the info, thanks! G R E E N E R 21:51, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
