Talk:Full Counter

While I doubt it's inspired by it, the skill name and ability reminds me of Meliodas's ability of the same name from the manga/anime Nanatsu No Taizai/The Seven Deadly Sins. - Doodleplex 16:37, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Considering the mechanics of the skill, I'd actually agree. My only question is: is "full counter" too generic a thing to link to a specific franchise? Or is Seven Deadly Sins one of the few things to actually use it? --User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 rawr 04:42, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
Definitely too generic. Also, Full Counter interrupts and deals damage based on the Spellbreaker's stats, while the manga/anime's ability only reflects damage based on the attacker's stats (correct me if I misunderstood the google search results) Ulithemuli (talk) 04:11, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
You're not wrong there. My only real counter-argument is the existence of the trait Revenge Counter, which, in the same anime, is a more powerful version of the same thing. Also I can't think of another franchise that uses a counter move called specifically "full counter," although to be fair it is pretty late here and I'm probably gonna pass out soon. 73.216.44.208 04:24, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
Originally my doubt was I thought maybe it was just a happy coincidence, as most of the references in game have been inspired by other games and not anime or manga. I did not know there was a trait called Revenge Counter, which does make me think now it isn't just a coincidence and is inspired by the anime/manga, of which I also can't think of anything else that uses Full Counter as a term. Also inspired by doesn't mean it has to copy perfectly, otherwise there'd probably be legal issues. - Doodleplex 04:56, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
As non-native english speaker, revenge counter is probably something I'd use if I had to name a similiarly themed attack, so I'm not against thinking it as a coincidence. The recently added "reference" to the YT video doesn't seem very useful for me, can anyone interested maybe find the exact time of the video where the thing is explained to match its GW2 counterpart? I get a headache from that stuff. 86.50.88.59 11:29, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
I looked it up because I didn't really believe this was the actual reference at first, the Anime seemed too obscure (I never heard of it before) and the name too generic. But the video explained how it works in the Anime and it's extremely similar to the ingame ability and the spellbreakers anti magic theme, Meliodas's Full Counter being specifically an Magic Counter. I added ref so other people who are sceptical like me but now I also added the timestamp to the important part of the video. --Doctor Refrence (talk) 11:46, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
My Asura says, "right back at ya" which is the same phrase Meliodas uses in the anime.--Sir Vincent III (talk) 19:17, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
Indeed, the whole concept of Spellbreaker seems to be heavily inspired by Meliodas, not just due to the names of the skills but thematically as well. In the overview video on the Guild Wars 2 Youtube channel the narrator says the Spellbreaker wields a dagger as a symbol of the broken weapons from when the Sunspears were thrown down. This is quite reminiscent of Meliodas' broken sword that he carries with him. Alccode (talk) 04:50, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
