Talk:Elize Fairchild

In regards to the note, since the first anon did not reply to my question, and it was put back again, can somebody please give a reference or a source for it? The character's model/design most certainly isn't modeled after the player, it's a generic model, and, in my opinion the names aren't that similar: both first names starting with "e" and the last name having "child" in it isn't a very strong case, so a reference is needed here. - Doodleplex 23:20, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- Until then I removed it, I agree that there is very little to link both, they both "sound" similar, but that is really about it. If that were enough, I'd be able to claim quite a few npcs modeled after myself. -Darqam (talk) 23:33, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- There's also another female NPC who's first name starts with "e" and has child in their last name: Elwin Fairchild, so I'd go with "just a generic name Anet picked for NPCs". Also, I poked around a bit to see if I could find anything out about the player, and turns out the player did get a few trinkets in some old GW1 Halloween costumes, but nothing was ever mentioned about "have a character with your name or something kinda-sorta similar to it in GW2!". That, and based on some pictures on their page, the player and the NPC model also look nothing alike, if anything it looks like me after I dyed my hair after I graduated college because my hair was that dark and long, heh. The only thing I find odd is that two different IP's located nowhere near each other put it there..hrm. - Doodleplex 00:04, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- I added the original note. I was very close to the developers having been a member/officer in the original developer guild for years. I contributed in many ways with bug/exploit reports, like achieving level 20 in presearing years before the LDoA title was created, as well as a member of the Guild Wars Test Krewe (Oct. 2009), working on balance and content testing before public release. I communicated and played alongside developers frequently, much of which happened while Guild Wars 2 was under development. The name and Hair style/color is more than coincidence. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.146.216.14 (talk • contribs).
- Thanks for all your contributions to Guild Wars over the years! We're actively trying to confirm this note with the developers right now- most of our NPC name references are either much more obvious (my man Clint Oliver's NPC is literally named Clinn Toliver, for instance) or were officially confirmed in some way, so I hope you can understand why we're being a little more circumspect about this one. :) - Felix Omni 19:36, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- It's been confirmed now by Stephane that this NPC was not named for the player. It's just a coincidence. - Doodleplex 20:34, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
