Theory[edit]
Does it seem likely to anyone else that these gates will one day lead to locations added in future expansions? My theory is that Anet knew they would want gates to lead to new areas (like Cantha and Elona) so they left themselves space and spare gates in a convinient and logical place. (Also I doubt it means anything but at the moment all the gates are active, on Desolation at least.) Danikat 17:35, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Coriolis effect[edit]
I've made an attempt to over-simplify one of the most misunderstood physics phenomena: this isn't a physics wiki or even Wikipedia and so we needn't fully explain the Coriolis effect, especially since it's just a bullet for the trivia section. People can go to Wikipedia or elsewhere if they really want to understand inertial frames of reference and the difference between the real force felt by the object in a rotating frame of reference vs the fictitious force observed by the non-rotating observer. It wouldn't surprise me if we won't be able to get consensus on the phrasing: ask five physics graduate students to explain the Coriolis effect and you might get 8 explanations (one of which might be accurate). Should that be the case, I recommend that we just leave the trivia note to "this location is named after the Coriolis effect" and let those interested do their own research. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:08, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Agree completely; simplified. —Dr Ishmael 17:22, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- Better still. (Also: I support your removal of the asset-loading artifact note — stuff like this happens at every holiday that transforms the city. I think people thought it was some sort of foreshadowing as opposed to just the GPU/CPU having trouble displaying everything.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:33, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- I assume that the plaza does not rotate, causing you to have to walk to the side to get to the middle of it... that would have been cute. (ANet just named it after something brainy and forgot to implement some gw2 phoney physics) -Chieftain Alex 18:38, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
