Talk:Command line arguments/deprecated
Feedback 2019/01/27[edit]
Since -email and -password are no longer valid, should -nopatchui be placed in /deprecated (since it needs -email and -password to function)? --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 11:31, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Go ahead. -Chieftain Alex 12:03, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- The -nopatchui argument still works, thoguh.
- Used alone it is useless (will have GW2 run in background waiting for input, with no interface to enter your credentials).
- However it can be used with -image to download the game in the background (no patcher window, though, so you can't check download progress) and the -image argument will auto-close the patcher once the downloading process is completed (so you can have a shortcut on windows start up to update the game silently, for example).
- Should also work with -repair (but not recommended, since it can take a really long time (multiple hours) and there will be no way to check the progress).
- Probably will not work with -autologin, since it just works as "Log in" button, but will wait for the "Play" button to be pressed.

Installer is not deprecated[edit]
You can still use --allowinstall
under certain circumstances. For example, you can use it to move the game to a new drive.
- Make a copy of the game on the new drive
- Run the game on the old drive with
--uninstall
- Run the game on the new drive with
--allowinstall
to see the installer dialog
If you skip the last step, the launcher will skip the installer and just run the game without creating new start menu or desktop shortcuts.--~Steven (talk) 10:16, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
32-bit client deprecated[edit]
Since the 32-bit client doesn't work anymore (just gives a message that 32-bit support deprecated back in late August if you still have the old launcher, otherwise it's ignored) should the --32
command line be moved to /deprecated? 172.222.50.55 23:25, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
-authsrv is not deprecated[edit]
-authsrv <string> Nov 02, 2022. I just tested all the IP addresses inside auth1.101.ArenaNetworks.com and I could confirm that the game changed each time to use the one I chose. I don't know about "-assetsrv <string>" though. I used to use it but not anymore.
