I went in while someone has already triggered the event and left halfway. I killed 2 of the enemies and got inside the chamber. Double clicked the Gloominator and got the achievement. I don't think "This must be done in a fresh instance, as the plasma bars open up only briefly while the enemies are spawning. In case the event chain of the lab has already progressed, it needs to be brought to completion, and then wait for the chain to start again." is correct anymore. I was able to complete this on the chamber on the left as well.

If you use a skimmer mount you can actualy get it even without the event, this is easier then try to make a trick jump with your raptor

Lab is also being detonated from time to time. So you can wait for it and get it reseted that way.
