Unlocking

How is this unlocked specifically? Because I've talked to a bunch of scouts before, during, and after events. Does it need to be the original backpack? Or any backpack with the skin on it? What happens if the original wings backpack had its skin changed? --Lustre Of Havoc 話 00:23, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

As far as I know, it does not have to be the original backpack. Any backpack with the required skin should work (at least it did for me). No idea whether the skin unlocks with the original backpack with a different skin applied to it - though it should work, too, considering that items (such as the fractal backpiece) usable in the Mystic Forge retain their original item value regardless of which skin they sport. Okay, and when is a good time to talk to a scout for the glider? And which scout? There are the tower scouts, and the spyglass map scouts. --Lustre Of Havoc 話 18:06, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

I suppose only the map scouts have the ability to unlock the glider skin. I for one talked to the scout right at the entrance of Verdant Brink. The process should work regardless whether it is night or day. Inc (talk) 13:05, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Can this be discarded?

After purchasing and unlocking the glider the "Black Feather Wings Glider" item remains in inventory. Attempting to use simply states "You have already unlocked this glider." Yep, if you see you already have the skin unlocked you are safe to discard the item. ~Sime 00:33, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
