Location[edit]

Cantha
  • Arborstone
    • Kestrel Archives — From Waypoint (map icon).png Arborstone Waypoint, take the Teleporter to Second Level near The Exchange, then head north into the library. Once inside the library, climb the south-east staircase to reach the second level of the library. Follow the balcony around to the north.

Dialogue[edit]

I've been endeavoring to gather the untold history of the Celestial Ministry. How it collapsed, what happened after the Zhaitan Disaster... Interested in helping the Ministry of Archives?
Talk more option tango.png Go on...
The four Ministries were broken down, and the ministers mostly disappeared from view... I want to know what happened to them. Their families. This is the untold history of modern Cantha.
Talk more option tango.png Sounds fascinating. How can I help?
I've tracked down the living descendants of the Celestial Ministers. I've tried talking to them myself, but... That's where I'm hoping you come in.
Talk more option tango.png You want me to talk to them?
Yes! See if they have any documentation—letters, permits. Anything! They're all located in Kaineng City. You should start there.
Talk more option tango.png Who am I looking for?
I've got just enough intel to start writing, so I appreciate the help. I'd start with Xiaobo. He descended from Minster[sic] Jaisan. Not the most...friendly guy in New Kaineng.
Talk collection option.png Xiaobo it is!
Researcher Hui: Xiaobo... Haven't interacted with him much. Jaisan's descendant. The former Minister of Earth.
Researcher Hui: Family's still got the ministry ties, but he wrote off that lifestyle. Doesn't care for copious amounts of paperwork.
Researcher Hui: I think he runs a noodle joint now. Pretty popular one, too, if I'm thinking of the right place.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought.
Talk end option tango.png I'll get on that.
Talk end option tango.png I'll see what I can do.
Talk end option tango.png Maybe some other time.
Talk end option tango.png That sounds like intern work.
Upon returning from Xiaobo
Did you get anything from Xiaobo?
Talk more option tango.png Not exactly, but I did get this. Who's next?
Figured he wouldn't talk. Doesn't care all that much for the Ministries. But this...this should do the trick. Jaisan himself signed this one, you see? Now, where did I put the MinUrb file...
Talk collection option.png Where to next?
Researcher Hui: Ju can be pretty shy, but she'll open up. Owns a flower shop in New Kaineng. Nice place.
Researcher Hui: She's a descendant of Minister Nai, the former Minister of Water. Probably has the...cleanest backstory.
Researcher Hui: Unlike the others, Nai wasn't hated. The family kept a low profile after he stepped down. Don't know a lot beyond that.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds like you've got plenty to focus on.
Talk end option tango.png He didn't talk.
Upon returning from Ju
How did it go with Ju? Did she give you anything good?
Talk more option tango.png After I traveled the world. Literally. Who's next?
Suyin. She's a pretty notorious wrestler... Wouldn't want to catch her on a bad day. Got a lot of resentment for Tao, but she might give you some good intel. Be prepared to take a punch or two.
Talk collection option.png I'll track her down.
Researcher Hui: Suyin might be a little less...welcoming than the others. She's a wrestler, but not the professional type.
Researcher Hui: Kaineng underbelly. Harsh, bloody–not my crowd. But you know your way around a fight, maybe she'll warm up.
Researcher Hui: Rumor has it Tao was tied to the Am Fah, a gang that used to own the streets of Kaineng.
Researcher Hui: They're not around anymore, but I'm guessing the attitude still is.
Talk end option tango.png Maybe next time.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought.
Upon returning from Suyin
Did you get anything out of Suyin?
Talk more option tango.png After I trashed the Jade Brotherhood, yes. Now what?
I forgot to mention a fairly...vital detail in this study. I'm the last descendant. Minister Zal was my great-great...great-grandfather.
Talk more option tango.png You're bringing this up now?
I shouldn't have left you in the dark, but... Zal, he...he was always rumored to be in the pocket of the Ministry of Purity. Went into hiding shortly after the Zhaitan Disaster.
Talk more option tango.png I'm listening.
From what I've gathered. he operated out of Old Kaineng ruins after going into hiding. If you look around, you might be able to find proof. Anything, really, that helps piece this together...
Talk more option tango.png Just look around?
Search for remnants... Documents. Anything that pins Purist movement in the area. If you can find enough, I can use it.
Talk collection option.png I'll go look.
Researcher Hui: I don't know how reliable the rumors are about his ties to the Ministry of Purity, but...
Researcher Hui: I want to know. Honestly, I need to know. If we want to do better as a nation, we can't ignore the blood on our hands.
Researcher Hui: Just...be careful. The Purists are a nasty group of bottom-feeders and righteous assholes.
Researcher Hui: Don't look 'em in the eye too long. They might take it as a compliment.
Talk end option tango.png Maybe later.
Talk end option tango.png That sounds a dead end.
Talk end option tango.png I don't want anything to do with that filth.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought.
Talk end option tango.png Not a big fan of family drama.
After completing Pure Enmity
Find anything worth using?
Talk more option tango.png A lot of...random documents. Don't know if they'll help.
Researcher Hui: History isn't always pretty. But it's important.
Researcher Hui: It's important to know why things happened the way they did, what went wrong...
Researcher Hui: ...and not just to know, but to understand why. To know who was responsible–who went along with those choices.
Researcher Hui: Cantha isn't perfect, but we need to know our real history. Not just the watered-down version we tell kids in school.
Researcher Hui: The Celestial Ministry wasn't all bad... But it was complicit. So we have to do better.
No, these are perfect. Do you know what this says? Here, it confirms that Zal was working with the Purists...and that he lived so much longer than we thought. The Celestial Blessing is so potent...
Talk collection option.png Glad I could help.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that important thought.
Talk end option tango.png Hold that thought.
After completing The End of the Celestial Ministry
Between your additional digging and my research, I've made some really good progress on "The Fall of the Celestial Ministry." It's a working sample, but let me know what you think.
Talk end option tango.png Will do.
