A recipe is the list of materials required to craft an item, either at a crafting station or at the Mystic Forge. For regular crafting disciplines, recipes are unlocked and stored account-wide, and can be viewed in the Production tab of the relevant crafting station. Recipes for the Mystic Forge are unlocked automatically and not viewable in-game, and are instead left for the players to discover and follow manually.

For crafting disciplines, recipes must be unlocked, or "learned", before they can be used. Recipe unlocks are account-wide: learning a recipe from a consumable on one character will unlock it for all other characters on the account.[1] Recipes can require between one and four distinct ingredients, and quantities from 1 to 250 of each ingredient.

There are three ways to learn a recipe:

Automatically
Most basic component and refinement recipes are learned automatically by increasing the rank in a crafting discipline.
Discovery
Most other recipes are learned by combining ingredients in the Discovery tab at a crafting station. After crafting an item this way once, its recipe is added to the list in the Production tab.
Recipe sheet
Some special recipes can only be unlocked by consuming a recipe sheet. A recipe will be unlocked even if the character doesn't have the required crafting level to use it.

Mystic Forge[edit]

The Mystic Forge recipes do not have to be learned, nor displayed in the crafting user interface, and always require four ingredients. The Mystic Forge functions similarly to a standard crafting station's "Discovery" tab, and requires manually combining four ingredients every time. Items stored in the Bank are also available for selection alongside regular crafting materials.

Notes[edit]

Due to the sheer number of patterns the Mystic Forge's server must check, eligible combinations will occasionally "bug out" and appear to be ineligible or disabled; this can usually be remedied by waiting for a minute or submitting the ingredients in a different order.
