• This may be a reference to the ancient Norse tradition of the Blót ceremony, during which a portion of the sacrificial meal (usually alcohol) was shared amongst participants, then "emptied" (either drunk, poured on the ground, or both) in dedication to Gods, Ancestors and Spirit Guardians (Land Wights).
