very important info missing[edit]
The first thing on this page should be an explanation that only registered users can upload images. I can't come up with a good way to say it, so hopefully someone else will see this. —Dr Ishmael 02:12, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
requirements to upload[edit]
I remember a while back we got a random spam where an add image was uploaded. I can't imagine we missed 10 spam edits before they uploaded that; so does the rule "In order to upload images, users must register a free account, then fulfill the requirements to become a "confirmed" user - wait 24 hours and perform 10 edits. An easy way to get the edits is by creating and modifying your userpage. " still function? Or was there a momentary gap in it's functionality? I unfortunately can't remember exactly when this was, but no more than 1-2 months ago. -Darqam (talk) 20:30, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- According to the group rights, Upload is available to all registered users,
but moving files is restricted to autoconfirmed. I don't know exactly when this changed, but that's the state of things right now. - Felix Omni 20:46, 19 August 2016 (UTC)- The issue was raised on the Admin noticeboard @ Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Admin noticeboard#Spam bot uploaded a picture. It probably isn't too problematic for new users to be able to upload screenshots, it's a nice easy thing for an editor to start with. -Chieftain Alex 21:08, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
Empty File?[edit]
I've uploaded many screenshots in my time, including preview window armor screenshots for difficult-to-attain armor sets and so on. I successfully added many screenshots even yesterday. However, today I tried to upload an image of an outfit, but no matter what file I used, the following error appears: "The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the filename. Please check whether you really want to upload this file." There is no mention on this page of what to do when this error is encountered. I can view the files normally on my computer, and the files have a size according to Windows (I've tried files ~700 KB and ~70 KB). I'm unsure if this is an issue stemming from the March 2020 wiki update (and therefore should go on the wiki bug page), or if I'm just forgetting something important. Any suggestions? Changing file name/deleting file[edit]
How do you change the name of the uploaded file? And how d o you delete an already deleted file? ViolentMuffin (talk) 16:59, 25 August 2021 (UTC)ViolentMuffint
- Moving: See Help:Renaming articles. Per the note at the top you'll also need a minimum of 10 edits and to have confirmed your email.
- Deletion: Edit the page, add
{{delete|insert reason here}}
and someone with the user rights to delete an image will get around to it. Only admins can delete things on wikis. -Chieftain Alex 17:00, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
