GUILD WARS 2 WIKI (EN) CONTRIBUTION TERMS

By participating, you agree to abide by these Contribution Terms and the decisions of ArenaNet, LLC (“ArenaNet”) and its designees, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki (EN) On Wiki of Gold Contribution Program (“Program”).

WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE

You must be 18 or older and have a Wiki account to participate. Employees, contractors, directors, and officers of ArenaNet, and its subsidiary and affiliated companies, distributors and licensees, advertising or promotion agencies, and their immediate family members (parent, child, sibling, and spouse of each), and those living in the same household of each, whether or not related, are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate.

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE

Access your Wiki account and log in. If you do not already have a Wiki account, go to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Special:CreateAccount and create a free account. After logging into your Wiki account, you must visit https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2_Wiki:Projects/On_Wiki_of_Gold and follow the directions to edit one or more of the articles in the current approved set (each, an “Article Set”) and complete your edits for the applicable Article Set (“Contribution”). You are eligible to receive Gold (as defined below) one (1) time per Article Set, regardless of how many articles you edit in any Article Set.

CONTRIBUTION REVIEW

Your Contribution will be reviewed by ArenaNet and/or its designees. ArenaNet may remove or provide additional edits to any Contribution at any time and for any reason. Please understand that you will have no approvals over how the Contribution provided by you is used. ArenaNet reserves the right to make whatever changes to a Contribution as it sees fit, in its sole discretion. ArenaNet reserves the right to not use any Contribution submitted through this Program. You will not receive attribution for your Contribution.

CONTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Contribution must be in English.
  • Contribution must be your own work product.
  • Contribution must be accurate, clear, coherent, concise, and relevant to the topic and, if applicable, provide help/value to the community and/or content of the article.
  • Contribution must not be duplicative to other content or information already included as part of the Article Set.

CONTRIBUTION RESTRICTIONS

Contribution may not contain, and you hereby represent and warrant that it does not contain, any content that:

  • infringes upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity;
  • is sexually explicit or suggestive; obscene or offensive; unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group endorses or endorses any form of hate or hate group; profane;
  • promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may be unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message;
  • defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about ArenaNet, its products or services or other people or companies, including ArenaNet’s competitors;
  • contains copyrighted materials owned by others (including lyrics, dialogue), without permission, to the extent permission is necessary;
  • contains any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;
  • contains the names of any person, or otherwise identifies any person, including, without limitation, celebrities and/or other public or private figures, living or dead;
  • communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or good will with which ArenaNet wishes to associate; and/or
  • violates any law, rule or regulation or the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use.

If any Contribution contains any of the above prohibited content, as determined by ArenaNet in its sole discretion, or for any other reason, ArenaNet may remove the Contribution and you will not be eligible to receive Gold.

APPROVED CONTRIBUTIONS

If your Contribution is approved, Gold will be deposited into your Guild Wars 2 account within 10 days as of the date of the approved Contribution submission. You will be notified within 10 days of your Contribution if your Contribution is not approved

GOLD

For each approved Contribution, you will receive in-game gold with an approximate retail value of no more than US$5. You may be eligible for Gold for multiple approved Contributions. All federal, state, provincial and local taxes, if any, and all other costs associated with acceptance or use of the Gold are your sole responsibility. All Guild Wars 2 terms and conditions associated with use of Gold apply. Gold is non-exchangeable, and non-refundable, have no cash value, and must be accepted by you unless you waive your right to receive the Gold. Gold cannot be substituted, except by ArenaNet, who reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute an in-game item or other virtual currency for comparable or greater value.

GRANT OF RIGHTS/PUBLICITY GRANT

By submitting a Contribution, you agree and hereby grant to ArenaNet and its designees, successors, licensees and assigns (collectively, “Licensed Parties”) an unlimited, perpetual, irrevocable, assignable, royalty-free, fully paid-up license to reproduce, distribute, create derivative works of, edit, alter, post, combine with other materials, exploit and otherwise use the Contribution, and all elements embodied therein, in whole or in part, together with or separate from your name, city and state of residence, image and/or likeness, in any manner and in any and all media now known or hereafter devised throughout the universe for any purpose whatsoever, including, without limitation, for commercial purposes, without compensation or notification to, or permission from, you or any third party. Without limiting the foregoing, you understand and agree that if your Contribution is used by ArenaNet, you shall not receive any compensation from or attribution for the use. You agree that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of Contribution by third parties.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

By submitting a Contribution, you agree to release, discharge, hold harmless and indemnify ArenaNet, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Wikimedia Foundation, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, licensees, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the forgoing (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind (including, without limitation, arising from claims based upon copyright infringement, trademark infringement, invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity) to persons, including death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in the Program and/or the use of any Contribution by ArenaNet or any other Released Party.

Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, delayed, misdirected, undelivered or garbled Contributions or notifications; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Program, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Program, the uploading of a Contribution or in any Program-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Program. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to any person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Program or downloading materials from or use of the website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Program or website, who act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or who are in violation of these Contribution Terms, as solely determined by ArenaNet, will be disqualified. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, ArenaNet RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. Program is void where prohibited by law. Program is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, state and local laws.

ArenaNet reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Program at any time and for any reason. Any changes ArenaNet makes will be effective immediately on notice, which it may give either by posting the new terms on the website. Your participation in the Program after such notice will be deemed acceptance of such changes. You should review these Contribution Terms periodically to ensure familiarity with the most current version. You will always be able to tell when the version was last updated by checking the "Last Revised" date at the top of these Contribution Terms. All questions or disputes regarding the Program, including without limitation, those involving eligibility, participation, fraud and abuse will be resolved by ArenaNet. Any disputes that may arise hereunder shall be governed in all respects by the laws of the State of Washington without regard to the conflicts of laws principles of any jurisdiction. Venue with respect to any such disputes shall be had in the state and federal courts of the State of Washington.
