Ferroc Torchtail

Ferroc Torchtail was a charr from the Iron Legion. Originally serving under Korrak Blacksnout, he was one of the few charr who survived the avalanche set off by Logan Thackeray and, unlike most of the rest, did not join in with Rytlock Brimstone in pursuing the human mercenaries. Though this had saved his life, as those who joined Rytlock were all killed by the humans or ambushed by ogres, he became a gladium and was treated as a coward for surviving.

A year later in 3020 AE, he was sent up north to Grothmar Valley to join a unit investigating the mountain in the middle of a lake which had began acting up. His superior officers wanted to investigate why there were earthquakes. Ferroc, seeing the earthquakes first hand, believed the mountain was in fact a volcano. When giant, strange creatures began to climb down the mountain, he and his new unit were ordered to charge and kill the creatures; Ferroc, driven by instinct to survive, marched slower than the rest until fear took over and made him flee.

It was then that he witnessed the mountain rise up, and reveal itself to be the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik. As the Elder Dragon took flight, he was crushed beneath the pressure of wind and began to bleed to death. His life was "saved" by Kralkatorrik corrupting him into a branded and he had new a will, one that led him to march south and follow his new master.
