Eive
“I, Eive, have loved the Shining Blade as my own family, and that will not change. I have responsibilities that occasionally take me away, and you deserve a leader dedicated to leading you.
— Eive
Eive was the Master Exemplar of the Shining Blade in Kryta from 1300 to 1320 AE. She stepped down some time after the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik's awakening and was succeeded by Countess Anise so she could pursue other responsibilities that took her away from the Shining Blade.
Biography[edit]
Eive joined the Shining Blade at an unknown point in time to serve the Kingdom of Kryta and its reigning monarch. After being promoted from the rank of recruit, she took the magically binding Oath of Confidence. She succeeded Laurelai, who retired at the age of 90, as Master Exemplar in 1300 AE.[1]
When the sylvari's existence became known in Kryta some time after the first sylvari's awakening of 1302 AE,[2] Eive reviewed evidence of this new race, including direct contact with them in the Grove, to find out if they were a threat or not and deemed them to be gracious, honorable, and kind. In response, the Master Exemplar publically announced that the race was welcome to visit Divinity's Reach and should not be subjected to criminal abuse, or the Krytans responsible for harming them would answer to the Shining Blade.[1]
Eive stepped down and passed on the mantle of Master Exemplar to her successor, exemplar Countess Anise, some time after the Ogre Revolt caused by the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik's awakening in 1320 AE.[3] Her retirement was made official with a document signed by herself, Anise, Queen Jennah, and two other witnesses. In it, both Anise and Jennah expressed their gratefulness for Eive's service, while Eive stated that she had loved the Shining Blade as her own family and would continue to do so, but her responsibilities would occasionally take her away, so she felt that the Shining Blade deserved someone fully dedicated to leading it.[1]
Nothing else has presently been made public about Eive's new responsibilities or what she has been doing after leaving the Shining Blade.
