Dialogue[edit]
- Before completing heart
- The process to liberate, create, and train a jackal is long and arduous. We need all the help we can get.
- What can I do?
- Disperse rampant elementals, collect runsestones, break in our newly forged jackals, and assist exhausted djinn.
- Rampant elementals?
- We call the winds to bring us elemental sand. Some of it can be fored into jackals, but if it's filled with too much torment, it must be dealt with.
- How can I do that?
- Your jackal can quickly manage the wisps by running them over. Use its Pounce ability to pull torment energy from the tormented dust devils, and finish off the remnants.
- Anything else?
- Yes. The elder tormented remnants above have hardened, and they should be broken up manually. They tend to carry runestones, so it's worth the risk.
- Thanks. What else do you need help with? (returns to "What can I do?")
- I'll go take care of it.
- That should be fun.
- Understood.
- What are runestones?
- You'll find them on tormented remnants. Bring them to me, if you would. Our runesmiths imbue them with magic to shape jackals.
- What else do you need help with? (returns to "What can I do?")
- Happy to. See you again soon.
- Breaking the jackals in isn't cruel, is it?
- Oh, not at all! A newly forged jackal needs training, and they love collecting unbound energy. When you've got enough energy, bring it to me, please. We'll use it in forging.
- How will I know when I have enough?
- Your jackal's aura will begin to glow. That means it's completed its training and is safe to ride ourside our sanctuary.
- What else do you need help with? (returns to "What can I do?")
- Glow? Got it.
- Sure thing.
- Why are the djinn exhausted?
- Our remnant callers and runeforgers have the most arduous tasks. Aid them, please, so they can continue their vital work.
- How can I assist them?
- If you've mastered the ability to command your jackal to pounce, the winds it rides on will provide the djinn with protection. But pounce gently, please.
- What else do you need help with? (returns to "What can I do?")
- I'll be as gentle as rain.
- I'd be glad to.
- Sounds easy enough.
- Where can I get a jackal?
- Right here! You'll find more nearby, so select the one you like best. Training with them is the best way to prove you're capable of handling your own.
- I have another question. (back to beginning)
- This will be tough...
- Liberate?
- Abaddon is long dead, but his corruption seeped into the sands. When a jackal is forged, what remains of him is given new purpose.
- Are the jackals dangerous, then?
- Even now, they seek Nightfall. But they can be swayed to become powerful allies once we cleanse them of Abaddon's torment.
- I wanted to ask about something else. (back to beginning)
- Sit, stay, roll over, seek Nightfall. Sounds about right.
- All right. That makes sense. Thanks.
- What are these sand portals I'm seeing everywhere?
- The jackals are still attuned to the Realm of Torment and use the portals to pass through the Mists. It lets them instantly cross great distances in this world.
- I've got another question. (back to beginning)
- Bizarre. Yet useful.
- I'd better go take a look around.
- After completing heart
- Ah, welcome back. What can I do for you?
- (If heart is complete and player has Letter from Drojkor)
- Your letter mentioned urgent news.
- Not so urgent that your jackal doesn't have time for a treat. Now that you're ready to ride it further afield, I'd like to ask for your help with a classified delivery. (receive Jackal Treat, Confidential Order of Shadows Letter, Confidential Bonestrand Letter, Confidential Forgotten Letter)
- Sounds secretive. Who am I delivering to?
- Our agents in the field. You won't be able to identify them as djinn by sight, as they've shapeshifted to get closer to the sources of our interest.
- Where can I find them?
- They're stationed in the Lair of the Forgotten, at Torment's Watch, and in the Village of Purity.
- One more thing before I head out.
- I'll deliver these right away.
- Do you have anything for sale?
- Nothing in particular. Just saying hello.
- If you haven't completed the proper level of Springer or Skimmer mastery
- The process to liberate, create, and train a jackal is long and arduous. We need all the help we can get.
- How can I help?
- Ah, you'll need to master the movement of a springer or skimmer before you could handle our jackals. Once you do, come back, please. We'd be grateful for your help.
- I have another question. to the top
- Hovering or bouncing, then teleporting. Got it.
