Desert Gate Guard
Two Desert Gate Guards stand next to the Desert Gate in Blackwing Excavation, keeping the gate closed and preventing anyone from traveling into the Crystal Desert.
Location[edit]
Dialogue[edit]
- This gate's closed for the security of Ebonhawke. I can't let anyone pass without orders from Captain Samuelsson [sic] or Queen Jennah herself.
- Why, exactly?
- This gate serves as a barrier against the Branded. They're still streaming south through the mountains toward their master Kralkatorrik, wherever it is now.
- What do you mean, "now"?
- We've heard the Elder Dragon moved since Destiny's Edge fought it in the Crystal Desert, but those reports came the long way around. No one's come north from there or from Elona in a long while.
- Sounds like I'll need to take the long way around, myself. Thanks.
- Glad the gate's here, then.
- Oh, all right. Good-bye, then.

- No going through the gate. Got it.
Historical[edit]
- This gate's closed for the security of Ebonhawke. I can't let anyone pass without orders from Captain Samuelsson [sic] or Queen Jennah herself.
- Why, exactly?
- This gate serves as a barrier against the Crystal Desert. Letting you through would be condemning you to death. Dark events have befallen the desert.
- What dark events?
- Truth be told, we don't know, exactly. We've only heard whispers. We've been unable to contact Elona since its last refugees fled the desert to Divinity's Reach.
- Sounds dangerous. I'll stay on this side.
- Glad the gate's here, then.
- Oh, all right. Good-bye, then.
Trivia[edit]
- The dialogue for the guards was updated in the Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire expansion when the Crystal Desert became a playable region.
- Behind the gate there is a second, identical gate, inaccessible to players.
