Bakkin is a human ghost found at Brandalf's Steading. In life, he was a member of the Durmand Priory and a great admirer of norn culture. He had hoped to make a legend for himself as the norn do, but died before gaining renown. In death, he solicits the Pact Commander to help him craft a powerful weapon to serve as his legacy instead.

- Friend! I thought I'd be dead for a hundred years before communicating with the living! Come get warm. Freezing to death won't make your legend, believe me.

- Bakkin—please remember. If I'm forgotten, what will my life or death mean?
- That's our way—but you're not norn.
- I admire your people. I tried to live like you, but I died before I could gain renown. I've been waiting ever since for someone alive to chronicle my deeds.
- Tell me.
- I don't have a warrior's prowess, but I have Priory knowledge. Forces past left power echoes throughout these mountains. I'll use them to create a great weapon. My legacy.
- A worthy endeavor.
- Will you join me and tell my story after?
I'd be honored.

- An incredible piece of architecture. The norn are good at so many things...

- We are, yes.

- It's something.
- I'd always imagined that transformation would be wondrous. Death is not quite what I had in mind.
- Why are we here?
- Power echoes of the Snow Leopard surround this place. I suppose this is the last time I'll feel its wild spirit.
- Your story's not over yet, friend.
- At the third location
- As soon as I was stationed here, I discovered that the power of the dwarves still hums beneath these peaks.
- How long were you an explorer?
- Three glorious months! I'd only just begun... I wish I could've had more adventures.
- I wish that, too.
- At the fourth location
- The Colossus of Cliffside—heard of it? Massive, tall as a mountain and twice as imposing? Well, it strode over this place ages ago. Its signature is unmistakable.
- I don't feel anything.
- Really? There's much speculation about the Colossus's power, but nothing could have prepare me for the sheer magnitude!
- Don't let it distract you. Focus on your purpose.
- At the fifth location
- Am I trembling from the wind or from elemental exhilaration? I feel so powerful I could almost believe that I'm still alive!
- Keep your head.
- I could never stand with norn warriors, though I tried my best. With this power though...
- But what about your legacy? Your weapon will help generations to come.
- You're right. That is the greatest of accomplishments. Quickly, quickly, let the quest end someplace warmer!
- Onward!

- I'm ready to fire the torch, but first I'll need an Oiled Orichalcum Torch Head.

- With the echoes of so much power, this torch will live forever. But I... I'll never be this close to living again.

- The legends never taught me what it feels like to make the hero's choice.

- ...No, I don't think I would have. It's been an honor and a privilege to share my last adventure with you. Take this torch, use it in your greatest deeds, and tell others of me!

- Added with the August 7th, 2018 game update, which introduced the three weapons created as part of the Design-a-Weapon Contest.
- Bakkin is named after the artist who designed the Favor of the Colossus, Mike Bacchin.[1]
