Is this Legit?[edit]

Is this for real, like has it been seen in the betas or something? If it is indeed genuine, what does "magic find" mean? Also, summon a Parrot?!.... User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 20:46, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

The runes can be seen in this video, also Outmanned has increased magic find, so it would be nice to know what it means. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.97.85.8 (talk). 20:52, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks a million for the quick reply. Do you reckon it might have anything to do with the drop rate of magic items? Im not sure if there'll any kind of drop rate modifiers but I can't really think of anything else that it might stand for. User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 21:07, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
I believe dungeon crawlers like Diablo and Torchlight had modifiers on items that increased the chance of good items dropping, so I would assume magic find is something similar to that. That Sounds Risky | 21:12, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
That's what I assumed it did. Didn't increase drop rate, just made stuff that dropped more likely to be rarer types. Mattsta 22:15, 27 February 2012 (UTC) Like it doesn't increase the likeliness that a weapon drops, but it makes it more likely for it to be a blue rarity instead of a common white weapon. I think. 22:18, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Minor Rune stats[edit]

Minor rune has 2 tiers:

  1. +5% magic find
  2. +10% Might duration

In addition, info on the recipe for the "Minor Rune of the Pirate (Master)" version: skill level 150, requires 1 Silver Doubloon + 1 Bolt of Cotton. Kruhljak (talk) 10:42, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Summoned Parrot[edit]

The summoned parrot actually does decent damage. Around 900-1100ish @ level 80. Lasts for approx 60 seconds. As a ranger, I've noticed that the parrot (actual name is Tropical Bird) also obeys pet commands when you issue an attack or return. Is 5% chance to summon on hit? - DataPool The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.116.1.66 (talk • contribs) at 12:43, 4 October 2012 (UTC).

I think that it is 5% chance on hit, and not upon being *struck* it doesn't state it, but in my experience with the rune, it triggers way to often to be a consequence of being attacked considering its 5% chance. The one thing I don't like about the rune is that the parrot can't be controlled if your not a ranger. So using this in a tough dungeon would be ill-advised. However I am very impressed with it's dps. I'm sure it's related to your characters stats, when mine is triggered it does something on the order of 1800 crit. Quite impressive for a free ally. :)

It's definitely 5% chance when you're hit, instead of 5% chance when you attack. I've tested this and no matter how many times I attack anything, the parrot will never come out. It does come out when you get attacked though. It's most obvious that it's when hit instead of when you attack when an aggressive ranged attacker hits you while you're just standing still.
I agree that the parrot (Tropical Bird) only comes out when you get HIT; I too have let mobs beat on me without doing any attacks and the bird comes out fairly often. Zala 04:26, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
IMO, while the parrot does a lot of damage, it can get you in trouble a lot and may not be worth it. It also has a mind of its own and will stay in combat even while far away from you, preventing you from auto-healing while it attacks something you never intended to attack anyway. It seems to have a very broad aggro range, much more than enemy AI, so it'll actively look for enemies all the time. --Hanakoganei 00:30, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Does it stack[edit]

with 1 rune you get 10 and with 3 you get 15 does that mean you will get 25 more MF The preceding unsigned comment was added by Trict (talk • contribs).

Janhyua reply to this question.
Yes the magic find does stack from I have been testing on power and other runes. I use a rune that has power and other effect and taking off and on to do some math and yes it stacks.
You get 50% magic find from this rune if you will believe magic find and stat work the same way in runes since we can't see it lol --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.117.37.216 (talk).

Where's my Yarr![edit]

Ok I know it doesn't really say Yarr!, the bug report on the page says it shouts "For Great Justice!", but still... I've been using this set of runes for about two weeks and I get a parrot about every attack, but I never have shouted anything. I've traveled with guild mates and have asked them to look for this with me and we haven't seen anything. Just wondering if I should make a bug report with ArenaNet. (I'm using for the magic find by the way.) I wonder if I'll get an extra bonus on "Talk like a Pirate" Day. Yoe Dude 23:28, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I have never heard a "YARR!" shout from my female Charr, nor "For great justice!" when the might boon procs. Sad Charr is sad. The might boon works though; you just don't hear anything except for a "Might makes me right." type comment sometimes. Zala 04:24, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm assuming this hasn't been fixed? If my sylvari will actually shout "Yarr" with this rune, I'm immediately going to equip a set, but if not, I'll go with something else. Can anyone confirm? Maybe put it in the Bugs section if it still doesn't work. --65.128.167.23 21:16, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
I shout "YARR!" Typically my toon shouts "ya'ar!" which probably makes sense as he's currently being attacked. I am very satisfied. Edited to mention I'm a human male thief, and it wouldn't surprise me if this didn't work properly on different race, genders, or classes. Art Charming 07:55, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Increased might duration works on allies?[edit]

Question - does the increased might duration work only on might that's applied to you? Or would it also increase the duration of might that you apply on to your allies? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 112.118.135.127 (talkcontribs) at 03:06, 8 January 2013 (UTC).

"Yarr!"[edit]

Is this considered a shout by the game? And if so do shout based traits affect it? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 109.154.224.1 (talkcontribs) at 11:44, 10 April 2013 (UTC).
