A Birthday Gift is an item received by a character once the character reaches their birthday; this occurs every 365 days that pass the day of character creation. For example, a character created on August 28th, 2012 will receive their first birthday gift on August 28, 2013, and their second birthday gift on August 28, 2014.
Gifts are distributed based on the age of the character, not that of the account or when the slot was purchased. For example, a character created in March will receive gifts each March; if that character is deleted in February, its replacement will not see a birthday present until the following February.

Notes[edit]
- Birthday distribution ignores the extra day in leap years; characters will receive a gift every 365 days. This means a character's birthday will "drift" backwards by one day every four years.
- Birthday gifts are distributed at the time of day the character was created, not the daily reset time.
- The next upcoming Birthday Gift (Year 13; 4745 days.) will be obtainable at the earliest on August 22, 2025, at 04:00 UTC+00:00.
Trivia[edit]
- The first anniversary of Guild Wars 2 and the distribution of the first birthday gifts coincided with the Clockwork Chaos release in August 2013.
- The original Guild Wars introduced the concept of birthday gifts containing miniatures.
- The initial Headstart period began midnight Pacific Time on 25 August, 2012. However, the oldest possible characters in the game were created about 3 hours earlier, as the servers were officially opened three hours ahead of schedule. The second headstart began on the 27th and the official launch on the 28th, each at midnight Pacific.
- The 11th Year Birthday is the first time the achievement doesn't include a title.
